I always thought an animated series about real events in war with realistic renderings of vehicles would have been cool. This has been done somewhat with Dogfights and other historical shows and computer animation. Though with the difference being there would be actual characters to identify with.

Sort of like Dogfights meets GI Joe, meets Clone Wars. That might sell some realistic historically accurate toys in the toy isle.

Ok first episode up would be "Torpedo 8's Last Mission"...everybody dies except one guy in the water, meanwhile the unscathed SBD's knock out the Carriers. Presto, we get action figures and SBD's, TBD's, maybe a Wildcat, and "Cookie" you know the cook that sends them off. Maybe then we might see some historically accurate 1:18 toys.

Hey I can dream. :) If you think about it it's really remarkable we got what we did.

And I am sure many other 1/18 collectors feel this way.

Lots of great stuff available in 1/32, and smaller scales. Better quality and detail, and done in metal. Plus the selection is much more vast.

The selling point of 1/18 was the size[WOW factor], and the price. Quality was usually average. And would be unacceptable in a smaller scale. Just wouldn't be able to compete with the other manufacturers.

But it really is like comparing apples to oranges.
What's really bizarre is the amount of SNAFU's 1/18 manufacturers can still get away with at any price point. Not only QC issues, but things like leaving out the GG decal in the X-1 kit, etc. 1/32 is looking better and better with each passing day.
