G'day Jason
Thank you for letting use know that both the USAF and Navy versions are going to be on offered, even though my preference is for a USAF or VNAF SEA versions, I would be very glad (dare I say honoured) to have your fathers Navy bird up on my shelf as well. Looks like my 1/6th dudes will just have to make space for all these A-1H’s, but unlike KAGNEW I'll settle for just three, USAF SEA, Navy Gull Grey/White, VNAF SEA.
If it not to a personal question I would be interested in knowing which Navy unit your father flew with, as I have recently purchased several Skyraider related reference books and it would be nice to have a historical link to the material I am reading.
By the way have I mentioned how excited I am about the Skyraider !!!!
ITS A SKYRAIDER!!!
G'day Jason
This is just a bit of an FYI.
While Googling the Skyraider I came across an interesting set of sites (see the links below) owned Byron Hukee aka SpadGuy, to me it is very informative with his own flight journal on line and much general Skyraider knowledge especially as far as SOS (Sandy) operations go.
He also has a very good reference page with reviews of Skyraider related references and other books.
I wrote to Bryon to thank him for his site and to tell him about your up and coming Skyraider. Byron promptly wrote me back and sounded very keen on a A-1H (in 1st SOS tail code, TC colours of course) and he would seem to be a very approachable individual and it may pay you to drop him a line.

If you are looking for a good read from personal accounts about the Skyraider and Search & Rescue missions it flew, you should pick up a copy of Cheating Death.
It's a great book written by George Marrett who flew Skyraiders with the 602nd out of Thailand. VMF115 posted pictures of a model of his Skyraider, Sock It To 'Em, in an earlier post. It's a must read.
It's really cool that AT's Skyraider will have the different escape systems depending on Navy or Air Force version. Pretty cool attention to the accuracy of the model by branch of service. So your pilot either jumps out on their own accord or gets "Yanked" out......

Thanks "Cheating Death" is on the top of my to get list, although it would seem to be a little rare down here I have located one local online trader that has a copy.
If you have not already had a look at the journal link I posted above I suggest you do so as it is an interesting read also.

Hi Spudkopf!
I have read the journal link you posted and it is a great site to visit. You definitely have to get Cheating Death, you'll enjoy every minute of it....
It's amazing to read some of the accounts Marrett tells of and you'll get a good understanding of tactics used on missions.
