Make all the Canadian jokes you want, but the fact remains it's still safer to say you are Canadian when traveling overseas than to admit you are from The
United States Of America. Unless of course you from Quebec which is really a part of France.

Please remember your moderator, who can have each and every one of you banished for all time from the boards, is Canadian and also has a very short fuse.

It's not?! I thought it was America's shoe? Odd.

I would like to see some 1/32 armor representing Canada. Maybe a DD Sherman or something....

A Ram I, Ram II, Sexton or Kangaroo would be nice. The Ram I and Ram II were medium tanks based on the M3 Lee/Grant chassis 2pdr and 6pdr main armaments respectively. The Sexton was a SP gun based on the M3 Lee/Grant chassis carrying a 25pdr. The Kangaroo was a Ram with its turret removed to facilitate its use as an armoured personnel carrier. Considering that the M3 has already seen three releases in 1:32 by Unimax, I can only pray that they build at least one famous Canadian AFV. Probably a false hope though...

A Dieppe Churchill would also be nice.

Caution is the better part of valor schizuki. Given the current state of affairs in the world especially the Med and the holy land, it is wise to keep any personal information to yourself lest you become a target. My statement did not mean that I am not proud to be an American. I am more patriotic than most people I know. I was stating the fact that Canadians are able to travel to some of the most dangerous locations in the world with a great deal of impunity. As for the French, ALL the arrogant French people live in Quebec. Just ask Aferg. They have been trying succeed from Canada for years. I've been there and if you don't speak French they look at you like ( why are you here?) Toranto and Victoria, B.C. are much more friendly places to visit.

This is turing into a political debate so i guess we should stop this here. But i will say this, i don't know where you went but when you walk the streets of Montreal you hear more english discussion then french. And when people don't understand you it does not mean they are arrogant, how do you think a french speaker would be greeted anywhere in the US if he started speaking french to the waitor or anyone for that matter? On the other hand, you must remember that most big cities are perceived as being arrogant so you can't judge a whole country,or province in this case, by a city.

Back to the discussion i would like to see a fox armoured car. I like Armoured cars it is a pity they don't produce a lot of these.

Never rly noticed that before  And ya I never really ment to start this topic as a debate (because that could quite possibly go on for all eternity) just wanted to ask some fellow canadians if they had FOV.

The British were actually the ones that fielded the Fox armoured car.

Present day naming conventions in the Canadian Armed Forces are pretty boring. Pretty much every armoured fighting vehicle is named after Canadian wildlife and our warships are named after our major cities.

I agree that the Sexton and RAMs would be cool. I figured that a DD Sherman would be neat as (I think) they actually GOT to the Canadian beaches.

As far as politics go....I really think the same type of people are in every country. Some places just have more of one type than another. Nuff said.....

In all the books I've read about WWII, when they mentioned Canadians in battle (or New Zealand for that matter) they talked about how they kicked a$$! You guys rock!

We had a lot of determination that's all, plus I believe a good many of our troops that landed at Normandy wanted a bit of payback for what happened at Dieppe.

got that rite :D Anyone ever heard of the cammando group called the black devils? (or maybe blackhearts...) It was a feared joint commando group with both American and Canadian soldiers in it. whenever they killed a german they'd leave a sticker on the body with the commando insignia and a message:"the worst is yet to come". Sounds like a movie serial killer eh?

Ah yes the First Special Service Force. Commanded by Colonel Robert Frederick. They were formed in 1942 with the intention of carrying out raids in Occupied Norway. They landed ont the island of Kiska in the Aleutians, but when no resistance was met, they were re-deployed to the U.S. Fifth Army which was seeing combat in Italy. It was there they became legends to the Allied troops they supported, and greatly feared by the Germans that opposed them. They Also saw combat in Southern France after the "Dragoon" landings where they inflicted 12,000 casualties, captured 7,000 enemy troops, and suffered a 600 percent attrition rate. Tommy Prince, the highest decorated Canadian of WWII was a member.

The unit was disbanded December 5th 1944.
