my guess - 4.99 -
If TRU has higher prices than WM - I will buy from WM - unless of course I can't find that item at WM - I fear their planes will be a bit higher at TRU - except for the fact that the BBI planes are not moving at TRU at all - still have tons of - in fact the LBs are sitting one TRU has 8 of them - only thing moving are the figures - still restocking the last wave with sniper.

Good news though - maybe I can get my Huff now!

baby needs a new pair of Huffs.

I remember buying the 12 inch Ultimate Soldier figures at TRU years ago. They were my introduction to 21st. :D

I hope the new management at Toys used to be us have grown up a little bit since the last time they stocked "German" items. Great news Tko if TRU intends to give these items a fair chance.
If I remember correctly, TRU gave 21st Century Toys some awards for being the fastest growing action figure line when they first appeared.

Does this include Toys R Us in Canada or is it strictly the US?

I doubt we'll see any German- or Japanese-related action figures, planes or tanks at TRU in Canada, 21st Century or not :(

21st., back at T r U !

Post by MG-42 » Sat Jun 16, 2007 2:13 am

You won't get the deal at T r U that you will at WAL* MART , especially clearanced items.

At least there's another store to get this stuff now , besides on-line.

Wow, it's like a blast from the past! Could be a good thing, though. TRU's a lot easier to get in an out of than WM, and anyway there's a TRU, a WM, and a Target all within 1/2 mile of each other near where I work, so I can add to my lunch hour adventures.

Wonder if any of this is due to TRU getting spanked over the lead paint discovery and subsequent recall of most of their el cheapo "military" toy line.

They had the same crap at Target. Not sure if it was recalled or not.

Perhaps 21C and BBI are finally getting their due for doing things right.. :)

That is awesome news for us "North Easterners"!!!! W.M. usually sucks up here with hardly any 1/18. TRU and Target always seams to have a good selection and good distibution. If the item shows up at a TRU, I know that eventually it will show up in my AO. Walmart is just a mess!! Now I won't have to even bother with W.M. The no stock, no help and the long, slow checkout lines are over! :D

This will be interesting, BBi's 1/32 Phantom and 21st's 1/32 Phantom selling side by side.......

I remember when it was said that since Walmart was supporting 21st century, we were able to get XD stuff for great prices. Yet now TRU AND WM are supporting 21st, would that mean even better prices?

Also if TRU is hesitant to sell the BBI falcon and hornet, will 21st's 1/18 Phantom and Fishbed make it to TRU?

*They'd be a lot easier to find there than at walmart, thats for sure!* :D

Something tells me TRU will get the Avenger soon.
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

Ah yes the good ole days are back.  I like a few of you got my intro to 21C through TRU,and if my memory serves me right the prices were not that far out of line from WM. My only concern is that TRU has money problems and is down sizing. They closed one store here and another where my son lives. The remaining store has nothing except a few 1/32nd tanks and that's it. Guess I'll be getting back to checking them out. Hope this works out for everyone concerned. In the last month I've been able to bring my 21C 1/18 planes up to date. Yesterday I found a P51 "Old Crow" and get this,  a Stuka in the old Extreme Detail blue box. Wonder what corner of the warehouse they found that one. I'm thinking on going back and getting that one??? Have a good one. Sarge

I remember those times when XD was available at TRU. I grabbed my first XD figures and tanks when I visited New York 2001. TRU was a great store and their selection and distribution of XD toys were great. But I don't believe those times will come back.

Reason 1: I don't believe TRU will carry german figures, tanks and planes. They burned their hands on them and I don't think they will do that again. And without those toys it will only be a half XD line.

Reason 2: In 2001 21st had a great selection of toys. Panther vs. Sherman, P-51 vs. Messerschmidt, Kübelwagen vs. Willys and 5 german soldiers vs. 5 US troopers. And then in 2002 came the perfect Paratrooper wave. 6 germans vs. 6 US. There was a perfect ballance. Todays selection isn't that good anymore. There are much more US figures than germans and there are much more german vehicles than US. And most of these figures aren't new, they are recycling. And the quality controls and paint jobs were much better 2001.

I wish XD would be successfull again at TRU but somehow I doubt it.

I didn't pull it out from the back of the bottom of the shelf but it was black and had a yellow badge on the cowl. If I ain't doing anything tomarrow I might run and see if it's still there.

Maybe they will carry the German stuff, and maybe not.... but I was in a TRU today and they had two FOV 1/32 King Tigers sitting out for all to see.
My guess is they will carry the whole line.
But whatta I know? :)

Yeah, the good old days, me tipped off that a TRU near me had a line of ten 1/6 Command Cars for clearamce prices of $50. Boxes were trashed but vehicles were intact. I could only buy four.....

Scouting an old TRU in Jersey City (the old TRU's always were the best) and I find 1/18 Command Cars for $2.50 each. I cleaned their shelves of they all. Was I too proud to go to checkout with my cart overflowing with XD.......heck no.......after all I did leave one

Can't wait.......never liked Wally anyway, at least now we have some other source. for XD,,,,,,..
