Hey guys! I'm new to this forum, but some of you may recognize my tacky tagname from infrequent posts to the old GroundPounder's forum. I've been lurking around the new site for some time, enjoying the atmosphere and glad to see everyone's keeping the collecting spirit going. I'm keeping up with alot of the news you guys report and it helps alot. I hope I can contribute as well.
I'm reading about the issues with erratic Walmart stocking for the Avenger and I'm afraid out here in Maryland I have to agree that it's the same: it's just not predictable. Maybe someone else knows an "in" or something that I don't, but I was keeping an eye open at the nearby 24Hr super Walmart for months and saw nothing. Then out of nowhere this last weekend I saw a grey TBF-1 Avenger on Clearance for $35. I got home with a big smile, only to open it up and find that somebody else had glued the right wing's folding mechanism shut and removed the torpedo and rockets, then taped the box shut again and returned it to the store. Ack!

Nothing else seemed disturbed with the box or the plane itself, but I was plenty disturbed.

It looked as though a previous customer broke a wing and did a very bad job with epoxy and brought it back to the store, minus the ordnance, to get promptly returned back to the shelf.
Well, it would normally be a simple matter of returning the whole thing to the store and getting a refund, but this was the last one on the shelf, and when I asked them to trace the UPC number on the receipt to see about a swap, they said nothing came up. There was zippo reading on their computer. The next UPC number up from there was for the German Starfighter. So, do UPC listings just go off the radar once they're in Clearance? Does this mean I'm outta luck to find a replacement Avenger?
Before I jumped on Ebay to spend twice the $$$ for another one I tried to contact 21st Century's Customer Service, because if the only thing wrong was the right wing and the missing ordnance, I would really hate to pass up on the chance to restore this to a complete and working model, and their website listed an option to contact them for possible replacement parts.
The gentleman I spoke to over the phone at 21st told me there was a chance they might have a replacement part for this, but not very likely. He did say, however, that a large resupply was either on its way to Walmart's distribution center or already there, and if I was patient I could just get a replacement plane from the store. But this counters the report from the store supervisor about not expecting anymore at all and that the computer had completely closed out that UPC listing. Not to mention, why would Walmart ask for restock on a Clearanced Item? Am I missing something here? Aside from a complete and working plane, I mean?

I was hoping somebody here might've heard some more concrete news about whether more planes were really on the way or not.
