Possible 1/18 FT-17
Possible 1/18 FT-17
Tanks for the memories
Your breachblocks so black
And oodles of track
Here at Grafenwoehr it's so good to be back

i bought one of those on ebay last year. Quality is so so. Nothing moves except the turret turns. Size wise, well, it's sorta 1/18. Lengthwise it's pretty good but it sits a mile high because of the super thick tracks and the width is terrible. It's about 50% wider than it should be. Looks nothing like the real FT-17 from the front. The tracks are literally twice as wide as they should be.
The lines aren't too bad but it looks large with a figure beside it, if you compare it to a picture of the real thing, with a figure standing beside it. The FT-17 was quite a petite tank and this doesn't convey that petiteness at all.
It would work better in a 1/16 collection but would still be too high and way too wide, mostly because of the overscale tracks.
I have it sitting in a box and may sell it someday as i doubt i will use it in my collection. I can build a paper model FT-17 that will both look better and be far more accurate to scale.

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
Thanks, I'm still mulling it over.KAMIKAZE wrote:Got my tank today. Definately bigger than 1/18th scale and Aferg is right. The tracks are wide. Not a bad representation of the tank though and since I have no French tanks in my collection, it fills the void.

told you so, told you so...
lol.... you're right, it's shape is pretty good, especially from the side. It's the front view where it really looks worst, mostly because of those tracks. And as you'll find, they're absolute bastards to try and remove. I was hoping to replace them with something more scale....but was afraid i'd rip the entire running gear off in the attempt.
I had planned to heavily cover mine in mud and sink it into the ground of some diorama, to hide the tracks and the tallness as much as possible. I may have to dig it out and take another look at it...as i recall, lengthwise it was pretty much bang on 1/18.
