The 1:18 bbi Roman Legions are marching!
whoa
To be clear...someone asked where to post the pics of the new Romans. Why not right here in this thread....about the Romans. I think it is safe to say Bravo is not afraid to take the pics and he already gave the review so there you go.

because the Reference Room is so unbusy, it seems to me that would be a good spot for reviews to go.
Reviews done in this forum will quickly vanish onto page 16 and beyond and then drop off...reviews done in the Reference Room will tend to stay around alot longer...so new members that come on board months from now can still find and read them.

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
Tman, sorry about that...I meant to refer to "Tinman."
As for the photos of the Romans, I have taken them. However, We're not sure if we are welcome to post them here anymore. ???
I have been posting pics on the forum since the very beginning days on the old GP site. Now that we have formed our new company foxholetoys.com, we use our collection photos (as well as new items received) and post them there. We have unfortunately had to deal with folks using our photos on eBay and for their own online sites. This is the reasoning behind links instead.
Nevertheless, we do not wish to upset the moderators of this site as they do a terrific & "fair" job. Nor do we wish to look as though we want preferential treatment.
If anyone wishes to view our photos simply email us.
Thank you & and sorry if we upset the balance here.

Wow, stealing your photos for ebay is bad enough, but for another online retailer? Sheesh.
Don't they know that if they're too lazy to take their own, then they need to pirate the manufacturer's stock pics? lol
Seriously though, that's pretty damn low.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Thanks for the pics!
Hey Bravo_26,
Thanks for the great pics (on your site).
Really sux about people using them for their ebay stuff...people on RebelScum have mentioned this has happened before. But I guess it is a form of flattery...but still it is inexcusible.
But again thanks for the great pics! Very detailed and close up!

It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!
Markecho,
I'm glad you found your way to the pics buddy! It was your inquiring that prompted us to do the photos in the first place, so WE thank you. I hope that gives you a better idea of what they look like overall.
We would love to get someone else's feedback on these figures, as well. So, please add your comments here Tinman!
Our brother from the land down under, Army Group 1 bought several figures, so if he ever gets the opportunity to snap a few photos of his "Tortoise" we would love to see his Century!!!
Cheers!

Received them yesterday and they exceeded my expectations. My son loves them - these were a surpise gift for his latest report card (I know, you're not supposed to bribe your kids for good grades. So shoot me.).
I got him the mounted Centurion, the Signifier, and the 2 different troops.
A few comments:
Detail is excellent, expecially considering price. Realizing that they are a different subject matter, these are much more intricately and precisely painted than the Schleich Knights I've examined at Target (I may purchase 1 or more of the bbi Knights or Crusaders to check them out for comparison).
Headsculpts are good, with appropriately stressed-looking facial expressions without going over-the-top.
Lack of articulation does not detract at all (my son would prefer that the arms could move, but does not consider this a serious drawback. For my part, I think that the joints required for articulation would actually detract from these particular figures).
Overall, these are great value if your interest in military toys intersects with the ancient world at all. My son intends to collect the rest of the series, via his own $ or as gifts. For myself, I need to decide if I want to join him in collecting the Romans or leave that to him and go with Knights and Crusaders. Such a dilemma!!!
Bravo, do you know when the Chariot and other wave 2 Romans are expected out?

Sorry Tinman,
No word yet on the release date for the second wave. Our guess is mid-late summer or 1st part of 4th quarter (Oct). Toys seem to be cyclical in delivery schedules. New stuff tends to start off in March/April, as evident of all of the goodies coming out now.
Anyway, glad to hear you and your son love them!!!
But don't worry, we'll be one of the very first to get them! The Crusaders, as well as the 1st series knights are excellent, too! As you said Timan...much better than the Schliech knights. Compatible but not comparable in our eyes.
Cheers!

VERY PLEASED WITH THESE FIGURES, THEY ARE A LITTLE BETTER THAN THE PAPO, BUT THEY ALL BLEND IN WHICH HAS SWELLED MY ARMY. I CAN ALSO INTERMIX WEAPONS FROM BOTH TO CREATE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT LOOKING FIGURE. UNLIKE THE PAPO, THE SHIELDS ARE FIXED WHICH IS OK, BUT I WOULD HAVE LIKED THEM TO COME OFF. I THOUGHT I COULD ADD A SPEAR TO OVERHEAD SHIELD FIGURE AS IF HE WAS THROWING IT. I HAVE THE BROCHURE SHOWING WAVE 2, I WANT THEM ALL & PLENTLY OF THEM. THE GLADIATOR FIGHTING THE TIGER & LION LOOKS GREAT. I HAVE JUST ORDERED MORE OF WAVE 1 & WILL POST A PHOTO IN THE NEXT 7 DAYS, HOPEFULLY TO INSPIRE. GOOD TO HAVE A DISTRACTION FROM 1/18 ARMOR THAT ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE COMING.

Wow! Armygroup, nice collection of Romans. I like that you have an enemy for Great Roman Empire to cut loose against. I picked up 4 each of the BBI Roman legionaries, along with the centurion, gladiator and Celt. I am really impressed with these figures and will no doubt get many more, I can't wait to see the second wave. Those Papo figures also look good I might get a few for the variety. Thanks for your pic.

THE COLLECTION WILL DOUBLE WITH THE SECOND WAVE IN SEPT & I AM STILL DETERMINED TO BUILD UP A DECENT SIZE TORTOISE IN THE MEANTIME. I UNDERSTAND THE SEIGE TOWER & CATAPULT ARE DUE IN JUNE ALSO FROM BBI. CHEERS. ROBIN.

THE ELEPHANT CAME WITH A JEEP & TRAILER CAGE. I CONVERTED THE CAGE TO FIT ON THE BACK & RIPPED OFF THE FIXED HUNTERS CHAIR THAT WAS THERE. I AM REALLY HAPPY WITH THE LOOK & SIZE OF THE ELEPHANT & INTEND TO DUPLICATE IT IF I CAN FIND THEM STILL, AS THEY WERE IN SHOPS 18 MONTHS AGO. SIX WOULD BE A GOOD ROUND NUMBER.
