MIG-15 Scheme/Markings questions anyone???

Ok,
S1 --- flown by Russian ace Pepelyaev, question to Roy or others out there with MIG knowledge--- Looking on the web and other sources, the numbers 925 are reported to be blue with either white or plain NMF outlines, dont know .....anyone????
He scored his first kil in Red-"899" with red nose as this was not his only aircraft
He also flew in Red-"325" with a red nose as well. scoring 17 kills in this aircraft.

S2--- Was this particular aircraft flown in the Korean conflict and was it piloted by a Soviet or Chinese pilot. Or is it a post KW mig with the PLAAF?

S3--Dont know for sure, but seems to be a post KW Mig-15 with the Soviet Air Force. I beleive tamiya provides these markings in its 1/48 scale offering.

I see some 48 and 32nd scale decal sheets with North Korean insignias with white breaks in the blue and red circles, yet on others I dont. Were there 2 types or what? Some of the same aircraft depicted in these sets for the most part show breaks in the insignia asspecified.
21st S1 scheme has no breaks in the blue and red circles.......

Bottom line.....again, are there 2 types of NK insignias????

This inquiring mind wants to know..............:-)

Here's what I was able to dig up on the Chinese Mig-15. There's a chance that it could have been part of the 726th IAP and been flown by a Russian pilot, but that's just conjecture on my part. What I found consists of a profile of the 21c plane and blurb about the Chinese use of Migs during the Korean conflict for another aircraft with similar markings. Despite bitter complaints from the Soviet leadership, which was repeatedly requesting the Chinese to accelerate the introduction of new fighters and organization of new units during the whole Korean War, the Chinese were relatively slow in this process at the time, and by 1951 there were only two regiments flying MiG-15bis as night fighters. Being not completely trained and equipped, both units were used only for the defence of China, but they became involved in interception of USAF reconnaissance aircraft, some of which went very deep over China. If all the PLAAF night-fighting MiG-15s were camouflaged remains unknown: most of the Chinese jets were actually left without any camouflage. The pattern shown here, however, was seen frequently already during the Korean War, and again also on some MiG-17s, later in the 1950s.

I found this about the Soviet (S3) Mig-15.

This MiG-15 reportedly belonged to one of the V-VS units stationed in China, in June 1951.

Essentially, there just isn't that much that we know about the Soviet and Chinese Air Forces at this stage in the Cold War. Nonetheless, hope these little tidbits help!
