Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

No. But it would be a good choice from a historical perspective - sunk more tons than the Avenger, that's for sure.abpiel wrote:Has anyone heard of any 1:18 Scale SBDs Dauntlesses in the works anyhwere?
Plus as many re-paints if not more than the Avenger.
Plus it's "playable" for Lil Johhny... a single row cockpit and no complicated mechanisms to engineer for. Much like the Bf-110.

A Dauntless would be a nice addition to the 1/18th carrier fleet. Imagin BBI's Corsair Marines Dream (or 21st's Bunker Hill F4U), The Avenger from 21st, BBI's Hellcat and a Dauntless? What a way to honor the aviators of the pacific. But the Dauntless? It would be nice but its a pipe dream so to speak but hey I said that about a Hellcat being made and I was proven wrong so you never know.

Dauntless and Wildcat would be great, until then here's a new repaint that Military Toy Shop shows.

At my local Hobbytown USA store someone built and then put on display several RC aircraft that are approximately 1:18 scale (though they could be closer to 1:16) of which one was an SBD Dauntless in early-war markings! It at least gives me an idea of the size and possible look of the plane in 1:18... very cool

What? Now are my eyes decieveing me or is that a 1/18th Tuskegee P-51 coming out from 21st? Yep it is! Wow, very cool but I will pass because I have only enough space saved for my Victory Mustang. But again very nice indeed.

This will be an excellent addition. Since the TA never lost one single airplane in their charge, this is Historically a great choice. Thanks for this link.chunks wrote:Dauntless and Wildcat would be great, until then here's a new repaint that Military Toy Shop shows.

A fantastic addition! Great to see the Tuskagee airmen getting their due respect in 1:18 glory!chunks wrote:Dauntless and Wildcat would be great, until then here's a new repaint that Military Toy Shop shows.

Wow--I am really shocked we did not have more fanfare or notice about this repaint, especially since there will be an Afro-American figure comming into the WWII mix.

Dauntless
The SBD is by far my personal favorite. But also a historically significant aircraft, plus would be a fairly simple one to produce in 1:18. Nowhere near the size or complexity of the Avenger.

All this Dauntless does my heart good!
Finally!
For sure - WAY more cool than any Avenger could ever hope to be IMO. Whether you consider its history, classic shape or just having it hit all the chords any WWII aviation could hope to have hit – I'd buy several.
This plane closely parallels the FW 190A for me in that I feel it’s a near disgrace that it has not yet been produced.

Yes, the Dauntless would have been a better choice than the Avenger. Easier to make, and cheaper for the consumer. 21st made a BIG mistake releasing a Fw190D instead of an A. I guess some genius there thought it looked more "cool".This plane closely parallels the FW 190A for me in that I feel it’s a near disgrace that it has not yet been produced.
The 190 Dora
I've been building scale plastic kits my whole life and been around fellow modelers about as long. The 190-A has always had a presence in all of our warbird displays - even by several versions of the type. It is what's in our mind's "eye" whenever we thing of an FW-190.
For over thirty years in this endeavor - I've never seen the Dora version enjoy anywhere near that popularity with anyone I know - which is a pretty good cross-section of WWII aircraft fans.
Sorry for the brief off-topic guys.
Thanks!
