Help - WWII match-ups
Help - WWII match-ups
Ok, help me out here guys. I have been resisting these planes for years, but they are getting better and better so I know I am going to cave eventually. I have in my closet a MIB Grey 12 & an NKK Spit, both of which are dying to come out of their boxes. But then I realized the 109 would be in Sicily when the Spit was in Southern England, so they couldn't really dog fight (could they?). Then I was wondering what match-ups would be feasible. Most people don't have the S2 109 which was in the Battle of Britain (right?), so I was wondering what some other realistic match-ups would be not involving that plane. This is not a thread to start crying for a Zero - I realize we need one to match up against our Corsairs and Warhawks. I'm asking about what we've got so far. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help!
This one is easy!! Match the DWK or ZPL Spitfire against the Galland 109 or Scotty Dog Stuka. NKK would be ok, but that scheme came after the BoB. Another perfect match would be any FW-190 vs. Jabo or Killer P-51.
To Continue, the 109G vs. same or any non-checkertail P-47, WWS P-38, D-Day Spitfire and any P-51.............
White 12 could concievably go up against the RAF P-40.................
There's a lot more to oppose these days!!

Actually the scotty dog stuka is eastern front (balkans) and would not have met the spitfires.
Skis other suggestions are great. The Galland 109 vs ZPA or DWK spitfires is a classic match up. There is no battle of britain Stuka out yet...the S1 stuka (yellow C) was Polish campaign but the BoB Stukas looked pretty much the same.
Me 109 White 12 could escort snake stuka on the way to a raid and be intercepted by RAF P-40.
Another adversary for the 190D and 109G is the P-38. The S1 with the DDay stripes would be a good choice there.

Ferg,
Isn't the first Stuka a 1/STG 77 which was part of Luftflotte 3 in france? I've got a picture of one about to crash in England in a book "The Battle of Britain" Richard Wonshend Bickers - alot of pictures so its good for me.
Back to the original question I've just try to get them close. So a MK 1 Spit won't be next to the 190. Kind of like some old Revell model kits I used to make as a kid , that had an alllied and axis plane together.

Bruzzer,
The series 1 Stuka is incorrectly marked. It has the diving pig of STG 77 and the squadron marking (A5) of STG 1. It should have "S2" instead. You are correct that StG 77 participated in the BoB, but it should have a yellow nose.

A FW-190A would of gone up against the MK V or later as the MK I was already out of front line service. The 21st XD Dora was way too late for either plane! Late 1944-45

Wow
Thanks to all you guys! I didn't realize all the possibilities. I'm now tempted to get that RAF p-40 and steal Aferg's idea for an intercept!!
You guys should feel no shame for a mistake - where else could I get such a great answer to a question that requires extensive knowledge of both WWII & 1:18 scale planes? A: No place.
Thanks again guys, and happy/healthy to all!
