KIT PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION- WARNING
KIT PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION- WARNING
New 1/32nd kits, bluffs, montgomery, dresden, and kasserine kits-some DO NOT contain what they should. My curiousity got the best of me at a north atlanta walmart-I slit the tape to look at the contents inside and found (in each) tan and green soldiers like those available in 1975- holding m-16 over their heads bayonet style, etc- NO PAINTED FIGURES.
The montgomery set had one wing and YELLOW 18 WHEELER FLATBED wire tied to the box- everything looked as though it came from China this way- no signs of tampering whatsoever. I figure most who want these have purchased already, but these will certainly dissapoint- The walmart aisle walker said he would tell the toy manager. The only box that was almost correct was the dresden set..

Quite common for dirtbags to purchase the sets, remove the parts they want, and return them for a refund. No mystery here--it's just petty theft. Now, if a number of people from around the country had the same experience, THAT would be news. BTW, I've purhased all the new sets, and everything was as advertised.

Maybe Opium is becoming popular in China again?? I dunno.... I bought a "Kasserine" set on Friday and it has only what it should have in it, nothing more, nothing less. One thing I did notice was a set called "Messian", and I feel certain that this is a case of "Chinglish" because there never was a battle of "messian", however there was a battle of Messina in the WWII Sicilian campaign, and this must be what they were referring to.The montgomery set had one wing and YELLOW 18 WHEELER FLATBED

My guess is the same as Mike`s. Someone bought the set, switched the guys and returned it. Pretty common with many things WM sells and not hard to repack stuff there. A check on the "unviewable" contents is always in order. I have had a couple times when te parts bags have been missing from trucks or planes, so it saved me from having to return them or beg 21st for the pieces...

what kind of f...ing moron would go through the trouble of f...ing doing that. I certainly understand the world is full of weasels, even when it comes to collecting the cheap, chinese toys we love to collect. It looks like a hell of a lot of effort to repackage these items as I saw them. I did only see one of each of the sets, maybe they were returns or there would have been more than one of each. Freaking a..holes- I still find it hard to believe some middleaged f...nugget would do such a thing, adults are smart enough to avoid this crap, it's a shame a kid may end up with this garbage. I'm OK, really..

Don't forget. These appeared to be factory sealed- no reason to open them. Besides, would the clerk even know what was supposed to be in the sealed package? Probably not. I doubt that the returns personnell are familiar with the contents of every sealed package.

Roger that. They really dont check too carefully. For example, I bought a water filter system from them and the package appeared properly sealed. I opened it up and all appeared correct until it leaked water out as I unpacked it. A closer inspection revealed it had been used and returned. I took it back and got my money back. The lady said they would make sure it wasnt put back on the shelf. A few days later, it was there, complete with a half assed tape job to close it up again. Be careful out there...
BTW, there is absolutely no shortage of morons and people who like to get over, no matter how small the deal. Sorry about my "glass half empty" outlook...

I went back to today to look for new stuff and had to open and look into the first encounter-kasserine box again. There was a green sherman tank, some brown half-moon earthworks x2, 5 or 6 tan figures- 1/32nd construction workers!! and a sticker saying bravo company. It gets a little better-- An employee nearby (with a clue) said they were aware of the problem and said they were not returns (at least at their store) and were going to "contact the manufacturer/distributor". To be a little more anal, the tiedown holes in the cardboard matched the nonsense in the box.
