Whittman Tiger

Post by Moth » Tue Mar 14, 2006 3:47 pm

Is there any information on the Michael Whittman Tiger?
When will it be done?
Any photos?
Will Wal-mart sell it?

Thank you

The Whittman Tank is a new paint scheme and it will feature a Michael Whittman likeness figure. I doubt it will sell at Wal-Mart due to the nature of the subject and the dedicated box art.

I am not 100% sure of when it is scheduled to release but I don't think it is as far a next spring. If you are into the Special Editions, Historical Tanks or Historical figures then the Whittman tiger is totally worth the money.

I expect there will be more news on this in the near future.

I would hope it would be sold at WM - as they will help generate more sales and more fan base to the product. To keep an item only on the internet would be a shot in the foot. Every Box at a WM would be a little advertisement for 21st Century Toys.

As for the zimmermit.. If it comes without it - It will be just another Tiger with another paint job. I already have two.

21st will have to make special effort in small details and accessories if they want customers to buy a third and fourth tiger.

Well this sounds great, didn`t know about this :D

Be great to see them finally do some Updated crew even if it is Wittmann only, though hopefully they will bring out some other crew members on card too? Be a perfect excuse to do that.

As for zimmermit well we`re going to have to see IF they do or not & wait for photos :D

Though is this Wittmann D Day or Wittmann Eastern Front?

MG-42,no doubt mate,no doubt.
Though what with 21st already having Winter Tiger tank, you never know, easier to just work that one & do Wittmann for that?

Though either way once out he`ll be available to put on whichever front you want :D

Now does this also mean we MAY see Ernst Barkmann & his Panther???

That`s true & they can still use the Tiger for him too :D

Add that Wittmann is LAH & Otto Carious is Heer too. A bit of me is surprised they took the change & did Wittmann actually considering past troubles 21st have had with idiotic consumer complaint groups doing Waffen SS,well WWII germany for that matter.

Still,Hopefully the Wittmann will be the beginning of a range of Actual Tank Ace sets? & ALSO Just as IMPORTANT More Panzer Crews in various Uniforms.

I am not sure if Wittman had a Tiger on the Eastern Front, I think he was still in STUG's at that point. I am not sure though will have to do more research

ZBEAR

Wittmann started out in Stugs. During the Kharkov counteroffensive(Feb-March 1943) he was in a Pz III. From Kursk and beyond he had his Tiger. There are several shots of him with his crew posing in front of their Tiger in January 1944. This is the Tiger with the elaborate set of kill rings on the barrel. Dragon Armor's(1/72 scale) first ever release was Wittmann's winter Tiger with the kill rings. Cyber-Hobby (Tiger Ace and Glory) also did the same scheme but with some of the base yellow showing through the whitewash. If 21st did the kill ring Tiger, I could go for that, although a zimmerit Villers-Bocage version or 007 would be better.

They should inclide his gunner Bobby Whol. I think I spelled his last name right. After Whitman was killed he became a Tiger commander and a tank ace and also a Knights Cross holder. Whitman trained him well.

Actually Balthazar (Bobby) Woll won the Knight's Cross as Wittmann's gunner in January 1944. During the Normandy battles Woll already commanded a Tiger so did not share the fate of Wittmann and his entire crew in Tiger 007. He actually survived the war and only recently died in 1996.

True they should include him & then either keep him with Wittmann or you can give him his own Tiger tank :D

Though as said before this would be the perfect excuse to make a range of NEW panzer crew figures & maybe a head pack inc some famous Panzer Aces headsculpts.
After all it`s not like 21st XD don`t have many Tanks out on the market is it......LOL

The 21C Tiger I is a late steel-wheel Tiger,

so - for accuracy sake - it has to have zimm, and could have been one of several mounts Whitmann used in France, including the 007 mount he borrowed and died in.

21C would have to seriously re-work the Tiger for Whitmann in Russia; his most photographed Eastern Front Tigers were "later Earlies" and mid-prod Tigers.

That`s the BIG question though isn`t it where 21st is concerned with the TIGER tank.

WILL they do anything apart from a new paint job & insignia???
Will they add Zimmer? Will they do a Eastern Front production run Tiger?

We`ll have to "wait & see" on these though I`m curious as hell to see the Wittmanm figure :D

Im sure there is a way to add zimmeret with out major modifications to the Molds. And while they are at it they can do Jochem Pieper's King tiger from battle of the bulge.

Not sure you're right there.. I have a feeling if you want it you will have to add it yourself.

Well it`s a matter os patients on applying it yourself.

What would be GREAT is those who HAVE done Zimmeret on a 1/18th Tiger or other Tank or custom. That they could do a HOW TO with Step by Step photos too?

I think I have a clear idea though not everyone is into customizing,so a step by step with photos shows how easy things CAN BE & Thus more achievable to those who maybe reluctant to try. Just a thought :D

For me a King Tiger would be nice, though the question is:- Porche turret or Not??? LOL

Still a XD Peiper would be Great :D I have the DML one though an actual articulated one would be nice too :D
