FOV 1/72 Paint Jobs?

Post by Trojan99 » Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:24 am

How good is the paint job on the entusiast 1/72 king tiger and tiger versus the action grade versions? I have an action grade king tiger that I got from Target and I'm familiar with the weathering on the enthusiast 1/32 king tigers and tigers. Is the 1/72 ehthusiast paint comparable to its big brothers?

Thanks,

Tim

I have several from both and there isn't a huge difference. I actually prefer the weathering on the cheaper ones found at Target than the more expensive ones at hobby stores and Internet sites. The main difference is the amount of weathering/shading, etc. between the two, which in my opinion they tend to go over the top with.

One of my 1/72nd Tiger I's was "clean", with "bright" colors and little/no weathering. A coat of "dullcoat" flat really makes a nice differance.

The second Tiger I was "heavily" weathered and with noticeably duller colors. It was almost as if they boxed an "enthusiast grade" version in the Target boxing. Since it no way matched the colors of my 1st Tiger I, this is undergoing a re-paint.

My Porsche KT was "clean", and in a verticle striped cammo with the same 3 "bright" colors as my 1st Tiger I.

BTW, the KT definately has the zimm texture, despite the FOV website pix indicating smooth armor.
