what scale are the Games Workshop figures?

what scale are the Games Workshop figures?

Specifically the Lord of the Rings figures. Are they 1/72? 1/48? somewhere in between?

Games Workshop figures are 28mm, which is approximately 1/58 scale.

It's an odd scale when you think of it that way, that's why they go by the size of the figure which is 28mm. 28mm is one of the more popular sizes for wargaming figures.

Scale is used more by modelers (1/72 for instance) where as the size of the figures (20mm for instance) is used by wargamers and companies making wargaming products.
