A Tale of two Tigers

For a while I've wanted to do a late Tiger I with Zimmert and steel wheels and an early Tiger I
in North Africa, DAK.
This is what was offered by 21st and FOV...



I remembered Jnewboy did a fantastic job on explaining the entire process, but I could only find
one picture; might have to do with photobucket.

Jnewboys Tiger is the inspiration for these upcoming customs. Not sure how to go about this, so
I started with a screwdriver and dermal.

Here is 21st's Upper hull on FOV's



and the FOV upper on the 21st lower









I'm going to work on the Late version first, the Early version needs some custom parts to be made.

Thank's guys, its been an interesting process so far.

YT, I used Tamiya Acrylics. The three I've used are:

Dark Yellow XF-60

Red Brown XF-64

Dark Green XF-61

For thinning and cleaning X-20 A. I've had very good luck using these paints with air brush or paint brush.

You need to swap the tracks as well.

But that will not be easy they are not a match.

Glad to hear you were using those Tamiya colors... I’ve used the same and They are great for airbrushing. Really wish Tamiya would do proper Luftwaffe colors that don’t require mixing as well.

Thanks for the comments. I've been working on the early Tiger I which needs a little more custom work
than the late version, so I might have some pics this afternoon.

At some point I'm going to try and cast outer road wheels, the Forces of Valor Tiger I doesn't have them.

The first set were under scale and more of a test to see how they'd look.

Tman I'm planning a DAK Tiger similar to the Bovington Tiger but not 131.
This 21st Tiger has already seen life with a winter white wash and then a tri-color scheme
so this DAK scheme is going to be it.

The next challenge will be casting the outer road wheels, as Pickel has said they are needed.
I'm very surprised FOV left this detail off their Tiger.

The air filters have been a challenge but some progress....

I glued rubber tubing onto the filters



Then put soldering wire in the tube so it would keep the bend needed



You can see the wire, it also helps hold when gluing in place



The inner two hoses (rubber tubing) are the air intake and the outer two are air to the engine



One of the biggest challenges on the last few projects has been my eye sight. Last week I had cataract surgery and next week the
other eye will be done. I'll then have new lenses in each eye and 20 20 vision. With one eye repaired I can see some more
sanding is needed among other things.
