Maybe a Chance for the A-10 After All !!
Hey Guys,
As many of you know Merit opened it's own web page and talk is going on about the A-10 !!!
If you join and speak up it may just get us the A-10 from Merit.
Or you could ask your congressman but I think you will have a better chance with Merit.

I voted A-10 and F4 as well. As a big rotary wing fan, would love to see the CH-53 and MH-53 - would be fantastic in 1/18!

F-4 all the way
Besides, you already have an A-10 available at mass retail for $40 from BBI and we know Merit distributes BBI products

Re: Maybe a Chance for the A-10 After All !!
Such an odd poll, all those aircraft and they throw the King Tiger and Diamond T tank transporter in the middle? Why don't they do an aircraft poll and an armor poll? It would seem to make more sense. Modern stuff isn't my game and while I would love to see as "mass market" king tiger I doubt they will get to it.
I see huge support for the A10, but even if it wins tomorrow, how many years before you guys will even see the prototype? They seem to have been dangling that Harrier prototype out there for years now and still have no packaged product for you guys to buy.

Guys, it's time to get back on Earth.
Just look at a Diamond T with a Rogers Trailer :
http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=82&t=165417
Imagine this with a 21stCentury Sherman on the trailer. This is what everybody will see when entering your man cave.
We were all crying because no more 1/18 armor and now we have the opportunity to get something BIG.
I hear planes, planes and planes again. Please give a chance to the return of 1/18 armor.
You had planes repaints, now a FW190 and a Harrier are announced. And you're at it again with the A-10 and more planes but nothing at all for anything with wheels or tracks.
At last choose a plane and something with wheels or tracks. Or you will kill any ground power for years to come.
Please give a chance to the return of ground power.
That's just my rant. The rant of someone who is tired of not seeing any land vehicle for the surrender of 21st Century Toys.

Re: Maybe a Chance for the A-10 After All !!
I'm with you Phil, this morning I voted for the Diamond T and King Tiger. I do like aircraft but don't collect
modern, just WWII.
I think an A-10 would be a good choice for Merit, there is a lot of interest in it.....and with all the talk of phasing
it out of U.S. military service a great selling point. Not to mention all the folks who made it, flew it, serviced it
and were saved by it. Ground support at its best!

Re: Maybe a Chance for the A-10 After All !!
Agreed, An A-10 would be nice. As a Vietnam era guy, I'd really like to see an F-105. It is a simple and clean design. Not so complicated as a Phantom or even a Harrier. I think in the future we will continue to get the smaller items with less packaging and weight issues like the Harrier and the FW-190. Perhaps an A-7 or Skyhawk although they don't have the novelty recognition of the Harrier--a big marketing tool. The only century series fighter to come out was the most compact--the F-104. Along with its popular design and legendary futuristic look, it was a natural. An F-105 would be BIG but the F-14 shows a very large plane can be packaged for retail.
Size = cost in material, production, packaging and shipping weight as well as retail store space. In 1/6 scale the smallest were always there, Kubels, Schwimms, Jeeps, the smallest Helicopter, the Little Bird, and the smallest Tank, the Stuart, the smallest "truck", the Scout Car. Even then some were undersized to fit the packaging.
With Dragon, they went with the smaller early Panzers and the smaller German halftrack, the 250 as initial mainstream offerings. Coincidence? I think not.
I wish furture examples would have 2 sets of optional position landing gear instead of retractable. That would solve much of the landing gear issues.

Re: Maybe a Chance for the A-10 After All !!
Signed up and voted for the King Tiger and Diamond T - I also made a little post that they might consider a British WW2 Cromwell tank in 1/18 scale. I cannot think of anyone but Picklehaube making the Sherman Firefly for us that has even attempted some WW2 British armor in 1/18 scale.
I think it is interesting that Merit put the Diamond T on this poll since they already have a fairly detailed 1:35 scale kit of it. Maybe they are thinking of an easy build since they could just upscale their kit. As for the KT, I wonder if they have some of the King Tiger old tooling from 21st Century and don't want to tip their hand just yet.

The difference this time around is that if Merit says they will do it, everyone can pretty well be rest assured it will be done. They may take a bit of time, but they get it right. Their track record is perfect at this point with projects they announce for production.....maritime96 wrote: I see huge support for the A10, but even if it wins tomorrow, how many years before you guys will even see the prototype? Chances are, everything on the list is something they have already looked at, prototyped, or had already had on a list. It might be more of a "The boss wants to make sure the most popular one gets made"
Still withering away from the A-10 Hunger Striker.

Awesome-10 , but Hind-24 x Awesome
Small change seeing them in production unless BBI wants to take the risk.

Well there is a chance but what I gather from Merit's input is , buy our stuff and plenty of it and maybe we will think about it.
