Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
I am going broke with all 1/32 repaints. There must be close to a dozen in the past year. I don't think they have ever done this many in the same year.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
The F-4 is an interesting choice for their 1:72 modern jet lineup. I wonder how it will compare with the Hobby Master version? It would be something I'd want to see pictures of before getting.
But I am excited about the 1:700 HMS Ark Royal! Perfect compliment to the "Sink the Bismark" theme they already have going with the 1:700 Bismark and HMS Hood models. Also interesting choice with the British carrier. I have a couple of the Gearbox Toys 1:700 scale aircraft carriers (USS Intrepid & USS Hornet); they are good, but I would expect something more detailed with Unimax. Would be great if they eventually expanded to US and Japanese carriers.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
ha, that's neat that they're makng an Ark Royal. Good for them. Bit of a gamble i would say. Looks like it's complete with some sea hurricanes and swordfish.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
I was lucky to get the Hobby Master "Showtime 100" years ago, but the FOV version might help out those who didn't and can't find the HM one these days. BBI's repaint of their 1/32 F-4J should have been "Showtime 100"---it would sell a lot better.
Also, if I'm reading the Jagdtiger correctly, it's #201 which was commanded by Otto Carius.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
The last notice I saw was for Dec21. Were there any release info sheets posted for JAN13 and FEB13? Thanks
Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
I wonder why FOV re-released the DUKW. It was never really a popular piece.

Yeah, it does seem odd. They've re-re-released this piece, and it's always the same normandy theatre.Heer wrote:I wonder why FOV re-released the DUKW. It was never really a popular piece.
The jagdtiger seems cool even though I didn't want to see another jagdtiger repaint. Also, I think 2nd company 512 schwere-panzerjager abteilung did not carry the conventional organization numbering. They were Y1, Y2....and 1st company was X1, X2.... and so on.
Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
It threw me for a minute until I realized what you mean: it's a Ford GPA amphibious jeep. The DUKW was the amphibious 2 1/2 ton 6X6 (which is quite impressive in 1/32nd). These weren't even all that popular in the US Army. They did serve in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and the ETO. Some went to the Brits. A bunch were Lend-Leased to the Soviets who loved them! They used them as scout vehicles. The USMC used them as administrative vehicles in DUKW truck companies. I think the US Army might have also. With these different users it is surprising that FoV hasn't tried another paint scheme.Heer wrote:I wonder why FOV re-released the DUKW. It was never really a popular piece.

The Jagdtiger is commanded by Otto Carius----maybe that's a selling point.

I don't hear a lot about their 1/32 Jadgtiger. Anyone own one? I saw one in a box over the summer and it looked good. Not sure what the consensus is though.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
How about a real DUKW . Or how about a repaint of the German ambulance in DAK colors, jeep with a Soviet red star, this Ford amphibious vehicle with a red star, etc.

ARA:
Check out Tmanthegreat's excellent review (link below) of the first FOV Jagdtiger.
I got a neat customized, weathered 21st Century 1/32 Jagdtiger #X7 which has some good history last year on ebay....but I was hoping for Carius' Jagdtiger.
However, FOV's current 1/32 models have little or no weathering. Also, from what I've read recently, I may skip the FOV Carius Jagdtiger because he had some unflattering comments about US tankers in World War II. If Carius had surrendered to the Soviets instead of the US, the Soviets, taking into account most of his 150 kills were on the Eastern Front, would have used his head as a hood ornament on one of their armored cars.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
Thanks for posting my old review, Dragon
The FOV Jagdtiger is a large and heavy tank (FOV was still using a bit of metal in the construction of their vehicles when it was produced) and the S1 version in my review had a little bit of weathering. What disappoints me about the model in retrospect is the fact that only the commander's hatch opens - none of the others do. Heck, on older FOV toolings, all the main hatches on a vehicle would open, but not so on the Jagdtiger.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
Thank you Dragon53 and tmanthegreat. Very informative review... including thoughts on pricing.
I don't like a lot of weathering so that aspect is OK with me.
I am waiting for the overall dark yellow scheme w/ the Porsche suspension. But I'd take any JT 1/32 if the price and opportunity were right.
I have Carius's book and will have to re-read it re: his comments on the JT and his opinions on his enemies.

Re: How about a real DUKW
I keep hoping that FOV (or somebody) will release a 1/32 DUKW (or for that matter, some WWII Amtracs). I think this is actually their second "Reintroduction" of the Amphibian GP, so they must have some confidence they can sell a few of the less well known vehicles. Check out http://www.network54.com/Forum/47208/th ... +crossing- (about 3/4 down the page) for what an FOV DUKW might look like, and if you can find it, check out the book Quack Corps A Marine's War Pearl Harbor to Okinawa, a good read that details how a DUKW driver's career was not without adventure.
And as for Carius, he's not the kind of dude you'd bring home to meet the wife & kids...

NOT IMPRESSED, with this lack-luster offering of LAZY, uninspired reissues.
I'm just going to have to keep my fingers crossed for a decent preview at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
I to would like to see a DUKW especially one with a 105mm on it or the M3 with the 75mm gun mount. Some American TDs would be nice as well.

Re: FOV March 2013 Releases!!
I visited a Hobby Town today to see what FOV they had and to see if they had any reduced offerings. No luck on any sales. What was disturbing is they were asking $78 per... Ouch Baby!

Can't wait for the "showtime 100" I have a 1/144 version of it, 1/72 would be awesome!
Hoping price rang is still around the $30-$35 range.
