Corgi 1/144 Duxford B-52D

Post by aferguson » Sat Nov 10, 2012 11:43 am

Does anyone have this model? Does it come with bombs on the multi ejector racks under the wings like the earlier Diamond Lil release does? Prices are getting steep for Diamond Lil and if the only difference between it and the Duxford one is the paint scheme, i'd get the Duxford, but it seems to me that Diamond Lil has more accessories, including underwing bombs?

You know altaya sells one with all of the above pluse their cheap $11.50 getting me one here soon.
Only downside to their models are the fuselages are plastic, but at least the wings are metal!

do you have a link to the Altaya one? I think the Altaya one is 1/200 not 1/144.

AFERGUSON:

The Corgi Duxfod B-52 does not have bombs on wing racks. I have the Duxford B-52 along with Diamond Lil, X-15 and Iraq versions, too.

thanks, that's what i figured. I can't believe they made it and left the bombs of the wing racks; especially since they had already made them for the earlier release. Makes it far less appealing.

AFERGUSON:

Maybe Corgi wanted it to look like the B-52 as it is displayed in the museum to appeal to the UK buyers who see it.

Your right, sorry about that.
Maybe I'm not getting it after all...

Go for the Diamond Lil, Aferg.

The wing mounted bomb racks really add to the model, and show the carpet bombing capability of the BUFF.

I have three of the Corgi 1/144 B-52's, and rate them fairly highly. An almost perfect scale for the very large b-52.

Diamond Lil is the best, in my opinion, but also have Duxford, and the natural metal finish X-15.

ok, so i got a Diamond Lil at what i think is an ok price. $110 shipped. Much of the cost was shipping from the UK, i got the actual plane for a little over $40

But i checked expired listings on ebay and current listings and i couldn't find anything even close to that...next cheapest was $165 shipped, so i went for it.

Well done Aferg. 8)

$40 is an absolute steal, but shipping from the UK can be ridiculously expensive. Canada Post is even worse.

Think you will like it when it arrives.

Nice to have a B-52 in diecast, and there are quite a few schemes, and era's done.

i saw on Flying Mule that these were selling for $119 when they were in stock, so i guess i got a decent price considering shipping is included and these have been out of production for many years.

Thought you would like it.

The best of the Corgi B-52's, but many era's are covered in the planes lengthy history.
