1/18 King Tiger Re Vamp In Progress

Post by pickelhaube » Sun Nov 04, 2012 9:32 am

OK Guys,

Time to stop beating the dead horse.

I will start spraying the FINAL PAINT on my LAST 2 Horten full builds.

Which means that it will be King Tiger time !!

As stated before I will be doing the Production, Porsche and Jagdtiger .

I have stated before that the projected price will be about $350.
Considering the T-34 sold for $300 and was quite a bit smaller .
I think this could be the right price point.

Now it is time for a show of hands for all of you are SINCERE in getting one.

Hopefully this will not drag on as long as the Horten.
I have pulled in several resources that should put this project on the fast track.

As with the Horten I would like to take deposits as work progresses.
Back when I started the Horten a few of you guys PAID IN FULL for theirs. This will be fine as well

I have said before the chances of a big company's production 1/18th scale King Tiger is just not going to happen.

According to my sources this is a fact.

So now is the time to get yours.

The response so far has been so-so.
I would like to see conformation on this project before I start it because this will be a HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY if the sales are just not there.

This will be a white resin model that you will have to assemble !!!!

So it is time for all who are interested to speak up.

Thanks ,

Matthew

I would be interested in all three, but the "classic" KT first. I do need to get my 251 tarps and Panther F kit first though so send me that info when you can.. :D

The production turm should be easier to make. The porsche turret will be a little bit trickier.

Yes it will be, but no more trickier than the T-34/76 turret.

Surprisingly not a lot of interest in the Porsche . But the multiple buyers will increase that.

I am chomping at the bit to start. :D

Maybe a spzabt 503 in Budapest in october of 1944 would be an interesting option.

I think he's referring to the 503rd Heavy Panzer Battalion which saw battle in Skorzeny's Operation Panzerfaust. However I'm not aware of any significant design differences. Perhaps he's thinking paint and markings because the detachment was one of the first to be outfitted with King Tigers and saw battle on both fronts.

I was just throwing out some ideas. I woulde think that the 1/18 armour guys prefer an ostfront tiger II. spzabt 503 in october of 1944 in Budapest would be a good option because of the variety of pics.

These Zimmerit kits may work with a little trimming (they're 1:16) .

I was getting all excited about getting done with the Hortens and starting the K-2 but I got slammed by work.

No big deal so I decided to pull out my copy of ' Modeler's Guide To The Tiger Tank ' to get that fresh Tiger feeling.

I could not find it !! So I checked on e-bay to see how much they are going for .

Over $200 !!! That is incredible

Of course I had to ask Mrs. Spike were it was and she went right to it.

Saying that she is the only one who cleans up around here and if I wanted it to be were I wanted it to be , I should pick up after myself. :?

Indeed . :? :? :?

So if my math is correct ,that is about 30 Tiger II kits and their derivatives.

So if this pans out , the sales will be almost as much as the T-34 sales. :D

Another must have but not near as expensive as the other . :D

$34.95 :D

Hey Pickel, I'm not in any rush but do you have a time frame on the King Tiger production?

Image

It's going to be a cool model!
Oh and great reference books by the way.

To be honest I was hoping to start cutting plastic on Monday , but...........

I landed a BIG job and it has time restraints. Some kind of big bar/restaurant that will have a big payoff. I own a granite fabricating / installation company.

And brothers this job is right on time !!!

Financially this has been my worst year ever that I have been in business and this one job will take the sting out of that. :D :D :D

I have already hired new help to start fabricating the bar /restaurant and we are going to work 7 days a week sun up to sundown ( taking off Thanksgiving )until we finish the job.
So my plastic cutting has backed up at least a week maybe longer.
