Merit 1/18 Huey

Post by B-29 » Fri Oct 12, 2012 9:09 am

Looked on Facebook this morning and saw that aviatornut posted this photo of an upcoming Huey: http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a ... 7742_o.jpg Looks to be a 174th AHC Huey Frog. Glad to see the Huey is finally being released, but kind of disappointed that its not a UH-1D. Nevertheless, it's great to see a Huey.

I agree I had seen it too. I hope we see a whole line of new hueys. I wonder what price will be?

Looks VERY close to the 21C Huey - maybe they got rights to the mold? Granted, could be a new tooling and it just looks the same b/c they both represent the same subject matter in 1:18 - but that would beg the question - WHY RELEASE THE SAME UH-1C GUNSHIP THAT 21C DID?!?!

Well anyhow, great for those newer to the hobby, but a UH-1D model seemed like a no-brainer to please ol' time collectors and newbies alike.

Hopefully it's not 160$.

That's about 60$ worth of plastic on that mold.

Glad to see you a Huey, wouldn't have been my first choice, but if it's cheap, I'll buy one or two!

Comparing the photo to my 21st Century Heavy Hog gunship, it looks like the Merit Hog is a repaint.....without pilot figures.

I am thinking the same price as the new Black Hawks.

$160 ish.

Unfortunately more expensive than the original prices .

But still cheaper than e-bay prices

A helicopter does not want to fly, it just vibrates so much that the ground rejects it

Aviatornut left a comment on facebook regarding a rrp of $100.

$100 bucks is an OK price point. I got mine for $90 at a trade show. They have been running around $200+ on e-bay but I noticed noone is bitting at that price now. guess they are waiting to see how things work out with the Merit version.

Now if someone would get a cobra back on the market.

The trend for 1/18 appears to be new models with no figures. There's a market for new pilots for the new 1/18 models.....if someone decides to cash in on it.

Heck, I'd been in for one since I don't currently own a Huey.

But...paint needs to be well done. In my opinion, the old 21C Huey's looked a bit cartoonish.

Would have preferred a regular OD Air Cavalry version instead of the gunship shark mouth hog, but hey not knocking one with all the bells and whistles they can possibly put on it.

To each their own.

No pilots, same 21stC mold, probably pass on it if it's north of $100.
