Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
As the first ever tank in the lineup, the arrival of Dragon’s 1/6 scale Panzer II Ausf.B tank in its Action Figure collection created a lot of excited chatter worldwide. Now Dragon has doubled the number of Panzer IIs available because it is releasing a second variant! This time it’s a Panzer II Ausf.C, a type that was produced by Germany from June 1938 through to April 1940. It was operated by a crew of three, and the Ausf.C was the most common variant of the Panzer II family. In the turret were a 20mm KwK.30 cannon and a 7.92mm MG34 machine gun. Up-armored Panzer II Ausf.C tanks were in the forefront of the German invasion of France in 1940, while a number were also dispatched to North Africa to fight with the legendary Deutsches Afrika Korps (DAK).
As an Action Figure item, the tank is fully pre-painted and essentially preassembled. Owing to its DAK usage, the impressive model is finished in a desert yellow camouflage scheme suitable for North African combat. Even though the original tank was diminutive in size, this model built to 1/6 scale has a significant presence. Appropriate Dragon crew figures can also be matched with this tank. Details are accurately represented, and there are numerous new components such as the cupola, turret, glacis plate and engine deck. The turret rotates, the gun elevates and depresses, plus the commander’s hatch can open, just perfect for fitting a tank crewman in the hatch. Collectors will certainly want to clear space on their display shelves to park this scintillating DAK Panzer II Ausf.C right next to their Ausf.B!

Very nice addition to the series 1 Panzer gray, and a good price. It will sell out again.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
Prices are starting to come out from our other etailers, starting over $513 without word about shipping, which could go around $50.
AG's price of $450 shipped for a pre-built model is a Christmas gift in May for us only on this board.
Also, this model is the uparmored C model, as opposed to the original release of a B model. I'm trying to decide what to throw out to make room for this beauty...

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
That's pretty cool and looks good. Does Dragon make a 1:6 DAK tanker figure?
I may bit on this, given that I never got the assembled S1 kit, sold my model kit, and then when I found an assembled version, it sold out before I got it
If anything in my collection, it will go with my tan 21c Kettenkrad, with the mediterranean-theater paratroopers.

This is too good to miss, at this price. I intinially resisted but then I figured, what the heck, so vwhat if my man cave looks like a hoarder's room..... I can carefully tip toe between my toys..... I'm in.
Now I have to get some DAK... it never ends.

Never ends... thats the truth!
Just sent in my deposit as well.
Going to need at least 3 Dragon DAK figures, or the parts/accessories to make a DAK Tanker and a couple riders.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
Question on DAK uniforms. Currently there is a very nice DAK DID fig called Sgt. Luca who appears to be used as a infantry Sgt or else a photographer (DID has a ton of equiplent with him) but I'm looking at his uni with eagles on the very nice soft hat. Is this a Lufthansa guy or can he be used in the PzII? Did DAK tankers have any special collar insigna?
I'm getting him anyway as crew on my DML MC and sidecar with the movie camera..... purchased this AM to go with the tank. It does not end. He just looks so good with the soft hat, goggles and scarf.
BTW - Same guy I bought the DML MC from has a 21C DAK MC and sidecar for sale on eBay if any 1/6 fanatics are interested. Cheap too, at a little over $100.

Looks very good, but 1/6 armour is just too big for me.
Great deal AG, and thanks for making it available to the forum members. A nice gesture.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
I agree. Hoping I can snap up a few 2-3 will do it. Looking at DAK tankers, the uniforms weren't all that much different from the infantry, just less stuff on them. I've seen variations on the caps as well.Threetoughtrucks wrote:Big business being done on DAK figs and uniforms for figs to go along with this new tank.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
Most of the caps for DAK tankers has the inverted V in thin pink color. The infantry and artillery had thick white inverted V's.
The field caps available currently seem to be infantry. The white inverted V needs to be painted pink with some more paint to blend the edges in with the cap color.
I'm partial to the DID Sgt. Luca for equipment and uniforms, including new goggles, scarf and other equipment. My Sgt. Luca will be a passenger in my DAK DML mc with his movie camera and I'll kitbash a tank commander with Luca uniform and cap.
Now, all I have to do is to decide whether to sell my series 1 PzII to make display room for the series 2 DAK, or maybe I'll just throw away my desk and PC to make even more room for the next 1/6 tank...
It ends when I'm dead.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
The series 1 PzII was a very quick and easy matter of one piece tracks, running wheels snapped on and armament snapped together. A couple of minutes of assembly.
This series 2 should be the same.

Deleted post - just realized I got a figure for a DAK tanker that may not work as well as I'd hoped

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
You never know until you look at what might go with the DAK PzII. I have had a 21C DAK infantryman on my top shelf of unopened figs for years and just opened it. The jacket is a little light for me but the fig is not bad at all and it has a field cap made out of plastic but it looks great. I'll paint the inverted V on the field cap (which is now white for infantry) pink for armor, wrap a scarf around his face with goggles and I have a nice tanker.
I bought a Cyber-Hobby metal DAK MC w/sidecar to accompany the tank and while wrapped great, it arrived broken and unrepairable. What a shame, such a beautiful and rare piece, I could cry. That makes two 1/6 items smashed by the shipping gorillas this year. Score one for FedEx and one for UPS. Anyway, to make good, the seller is giving me a MIB 21C MC w/sidecar and a rare MIB DAK trooper and I can keep the broken metal MC. Besides a few very small broken but glueable pieces, this Cyber-Hobby gem has three broken metal bars on the bottom holding the sidecar to the MC. Snapped in two and the result is the MC and sidecar are permantly leaning together. Maybe I'll make a DAK diorama of mechanics fixing the broken pieces with troopers and the PzII standing by.
Could be worse.

Re: Dragon announces 1/6 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.C DAK
The figure of mine is a Dragon Fallschrimjager figure from the Ramcke Brigade. In the ebay auction, it didn't look too Fallschrimjager-ish and had a nice hat, goggles, tan tunic, pants, etc that would make a great base for a DAK Tanker. Then, after I won the auction, I decided to google Ramcke Brigade and found out it was a FJ unit. Closer inspection of the item picture showed the insignia were the FJ version. The helmet should also have been a dead giveaway But, if anything, I can get those aftermarket panzer crew patches and cover up the FJ ones, thereby getting myself a tanker
I recently got the Dragon DX 08 Jeep (fully assembled) and it arrived with a broken axel, broken steering rod, and one of the front wheels had broken off. This was all inside the sealed package, so it wasn't something the seller could have known... Thank goodness for glue, accellerant, and the fact that I've saved a ton of those tiny screws that held various 21c models in their boxes. Once repaired and all together, that Jeep is really fantastic!
