yeah it's a real oddball series. They have a t-72, m60, tiger, leopard 2 and something else plus the Pershing. All are built on the Pershing chassis and look fairly daft, except the Pershing.

When i first saw these i instantly dismissed them but out of desperation  i gave them another look to see if anything could be salvaged from the line and i noticed the pershing wasn't so bad. It's not as nice as the heng long 1/16 pershing but it's closer to 1/18 scale being about 6% off instead of the 12.5% of the heng long.

I have had no luck finding any at a reasonable price. In fact the only ones i can find are on ebay UK and none of the sellers will ship to north america.

The tank is in the mail they posted it today. If it is 180mm wide at 1/20 what should the width be at 1/18 and 1/19 respectively ?

in inches it should be about 7 1/2 inches wide to be 1/18.

if it's 1/19 it would be just a hair over 7 inches wide and if 1/20 it would be about 6 2/3 inches wide.

I'm not sure that it's really 180mm wide as quoted in the auction. I just noticed they quote the same dimensions for every tank in the series when some are clearly longer and wider than others.

I did my calculating by scaling from the pictures using references i was fairly confident of the size, like the packaging in one picture. So my calculations are rough guesses. For sure it's no worse than 1/20 and is probably about 1/19 or so. For sure not big enough to be 1/18 though.

We'll know for sure soon. :)

I received the Pershing today. Its looks much like it does in all the various images online at present, although mine seems not to have as sharp edges on the turret as the one online. I managed to shoehorn it into the dio with the my JSI Panther with a 21st green jeep and 2 small US jeep drivers which make it seem a little bigger. The Panther has dead full size Germans around it. In the background is the 21st ruined building with the double doors which looks like the Cathederal entrance. It is called afer the battle in front of the Cologne Cathederal.

The model came with a damaged hinge on the commanders cupola but I will overlook this. Everything else with it is fine.

Measurements are length 32cms or 12.7 inches and width 17cms or 6.8 inches.

So I gather from Afergs calculations it is 1/20?

I am happy with it as in the dio it has some green foliage on it for realistic looking camo and also to cover over the black bb gun loading port on the front of the turret.

I think I would rather have this one than the 1/16 scale. My personal opinion is that it is better to be a little on the smaller side when compared to the German tanks than to be bigger. Although 1/18 would be best.

yes that's almost exactly 1/20....19.9 on average. I'm a bit surprised, i'm usually able to nail these things pretty accurately but i guess the lack of consistant dimension info was the problem. I'm glad you still like it despite it being a bit smaller than i told you. I'll get one too as i feel the same, if i have to go off scale i'd rather go a bit under than over. Dunno why.

I'm still planning on getting one when i can find it at a reasonable price. Two actually, one for wwii and one to use as a korean war pershing.

So from your description it sounds like it's a hair bigger looking than a panzer iv, whereas it should be about the same size as a Tiger I.

Could you also measure the height to the top of the turret roof? It looks too tall for its length to me, which is actually a good thing as it will make it look bigger.

Thats weird when I went to put the previous post in the forum my system froze and and I must have hit the button twice - sorry.

Yes I will get you the height measurement, its just that I'm not at home at the moment so when I get back I will get it for you.

I took it for a spin inside the house last night and it worked well. The cat freaked out when it saw it though.

It looks good up front in the dio with the Panther off to the side and rear which makes it look to scale. Having those Jeep drivers is good too. I don't really like the bb gun storage box on top of the turret, although its fine when covered over by foliage.

I did read elsewhere that the measurement for width was 17. 5 cms. I think its probably as you said that they give a generic measurement for the whole series even though some are a little longer or wider than others.

Height measurement 15.9 cm or 6.4 inches. Does that mean the tank is correct at 1/19.9 scale in regard to width v length v height?

The measurement I just gave was from the top of the cupola. From the turret roof take of 4mm.

ha......that's interesting. It's exactly 1/18 scale in height. So while a bit mis-proportioned, which i don't think is very noticable, the height being correct scale will make this look a lot bigger than it otherwise would have, had the height been 1/20 scale too. That's cool news.

Thanks for all the info. :)

That does sound good. Now we'll have to see if anyone this side of the ocean will be selling them.

If they are available here and the UK then surely they must eventually be for sale in North America?

Aferg what height would they be at 1/20 scale?

The thing is the model to me looks accurate even as Aferg says it must be a little misshapen. It looks as tall as the 1/18 Panther.

it would be 5.6 inches to be 1/20 scale in height.

i would imagine they will be over here in a few months. New products often start this way. They show up in Oz first, then europe and UK and then finally here. They come from china and it just takes time for the distribution chain to bring them here. Some of the other tanks in the series are already here, so it's probably just a matter of time.

the panther and pershing were about the same height in real life, so that's a good confirmation.

Aferg did the Pershings turn up there yet? I notice that shop that was selling this line here seems to have no more for sale.

no, i've looked from time to time both online and on ebay haven't found anything. There's one UK seller but they wont' ship here. I imagine it will turn up eventually, it's all over Alibaba so there must have been lots produced.

still haven't found a source of this tank. Seems to be getting harder to find instead of easier. Were 3 ebay UK sellers, now just one.

I did find a place in the czech republic, but the site is all in czech so i don't think they are interested in international business...lol.

http://www.kup-rc-modely.cz/p_info/937- ... la/?Lang=1

i find it rather bizarre that it's so hard to find.

it's all over alibaba, but they only ship in huge quantities to distributors. Alibaba needs to start selling direct to the buying public, sort of like amazon or ebay.

I suppose you could try buying it. 1720 CZK = US 91.00 or so on the exchange rate today. I paid $83.00 Aus + Postage so its not that much different. And the way the shipping is stated it sounds like they would post it to North America.

Still its strange there are not more for sale out there.

I can imagine how many great customs will be produced from it when available.

1:18 photos are of the Sherman from 21st Century shown versus the Houseworks Pershing.

1:32 photos for comparison are the 1:32 Sherman from 21st Century shown versus the FoV Pershing.

Last photo is the Pershing versus a 21st Century 1:18 Tiger I.
