I don't believe this is available yet, Hooben has several different models supposedly that are close to being released, I just wouldn't hold my breath yet

 Yes Andrew I did say that.........what the ---- was I thinking....... :P I remember you made one out of card-stock and it was very impressive but offered in plastic....I might go for one.
I feel the Elephant / Ferdinand is one of those pieces of armor that would fit in with 1:18 armor. To me it just seems so uncommon that I couldn't tell scale difference between a 1:18 Panther or Panzer IV vs a 1:16 Elephant, does that make sense? Now with other pieces of armor I'm more familar with, say Pickels T-34 and a 1:16 KV-1.....it ain't gonna happen....badda bing!

i know what you are saying, but just let me caution you a bit. The Elephant is big in 1/18, it's basically a big box on tracks. In 1/16 it's going to be enormous....bigger than a 1/18 abrams. If you think a 1/16 KV-1 would be big....

I made a kv-2 card model in 1/18 as well as the elephant and the elephant makes it look small. Not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to prevent disappointment as i now the 1/16 elephant is going to be expensive.

Having said all that, i may get the 1/16 Maus, depending on price. It was so huge that getting it in 1/16 would sort of 'mythologize' it a bit by making it that much huger. We'll see. :)

I would love to get one of the Hooben 1/16 Elephants. I know Awesome Hobbies in Australia says they will be available for sale on the 27 of May. I had emailed them about the Elephant a few months ago when they put it on presale; the problem is the shipping they quoted for this tank is almost as much as the tank costs. Does anyone know if there is someplace in the US that will be selling these?

$300 for a kit, eh? hmm..

Awesome Hobbies has a really poorly designed site. No search, it took me ages to find the Elefant, even though there is a big 'preorder' picture on the home page....which you can't click on (??). Dark print on black backround. Do they ever take a look at their own site?

I imagine the Maus will be even more, so i'l probably pass.

ETO in the States has been selling the T-55 and will sell the Elefant when it's released.

I have been in talks via email with a rep at Hooben.
It has come down to them being able to get the 1/16 Kit for the elephant to my door for $196

If anyone wants to talk to them the email is....

how much work are these kits? I gather they have to be fully painted. How many parts do they have? Is it just like building a model kit with hundreds of pieces?
