As usual, Bad Cat does, but they are ones pulled from Wal Mart as the figures have not officially arrived with other online retailers yet, so far as I know. Here's a link:

No Japs at BCA yet...

Post by digger » Sun Sep 11, 2005 5:24 pm

It's a pre-order, just like everyone else. You should get them at ToyFed as they are cheaper. I like BCA as much as the next guy but if this information campaign keeps up it will just be BCA, WM & TRU - that's it! SBP is just the latest casualty, and while they brought it on themselves we really should try to spread the love. This is turning into the "BadCat Board".... :?

I agree that the SBP loss sucks for us overall. Any competition going away is a huge negative, so spreading the love around is some sage advice on Digger's part. :)

The Marines are out in full force in Pittsburgh finally, however it's all greens, no camo's I've seen in the last couple weeks since that one sighting of them, and absolutely NO Japanese in my area unfortunately. :(

They look sharp on the Marine packaging though. Love these Marines I did get... A buddy got me some riflemen for $3 each as his WM already started clearancing them. I'd be surprised if one near me didn't start a clearance on thema s well as they are overflowing the 8 pegs they have for the Marine figures. Way too much stock. Other stores are down to about 2 - 5 figures total... This one near me though has dozens, and it's a low-volume store so I'm shocked they got so little. Need to transfer some over to these other higher-volume stores I think.

I am also a little disappointed that I didn't score Battle of the Bulge figs like some of you guys did. I'd really love to have built my army up on both sides since that's kind of my favorite niche, but whatever. Marines are fun.

Now to just get 21st to push figures more, and ditch the pre-posed sculpt on the faces. Yikes!

I found the paras at my local TRU, but I passed on them. With not being much of a figure guy, paying $7 for them is too steep! They looked to dark to me.....

I found nearly a case load of the new S2 Marines at the Fresno Wal Mart at Palm & Herndon, which traditionally has had the worst XD selection

Have there been any sightings of the Imperial Japanese figures in the Sacramento CA area?

There's a report in the BBI info thread that NEW BBI WW2 figures have been spotted at TRU. These are supposedly NOT the paras but new figures.

Keep your eyes peeled..

Have not seen the new BBI WWII figs at TRU yet.
This is Northern KY.

Lots of BBI Paratroopers, though.

Found the new BBI figs at TRU today! Its a 6 figure assortment with the following:

US 2nd Ranger "Bazooka Crew" UPC#021105214031
US 29th Infantry Division "Mortar Crew" UPC#021105214055
US 82nd Airborne Paratrooper UPC#021105214086
US 82nd Airborne "Pathfinder" UPC#021105214062
US 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagle" UPC#021105214079
US Ranger ".50 Cal. Heavy Machine Gunner" UPC#021105214048

Didn't get the SKN# but they rang up as "Army Desert Action Figures", so I'm not sure how useful it would have been anyway.

Anyway these guys are pretty cool, once again they're loaded with accessories. The Pathfinder and Screaming Eagle paras are in regular combat fatigues, but the other one is like the previous paras (might even be the same basic mold, not sure 'cause I don't have them here with me).

I finally saw the S1 BBI Paratroopers at the TRU in Clovis, Ca. today. Seems like they've come well after the fact, and although I told myself I wouldn't get them, I couldn't help picking up a couple. The accessories were too cool. It may have also helped that they rang up for $5.99...

Went to TRU in Elyria, Ohio. They had the bbi WWII Paratroopers, but not their new WWII figures. I also hit the North Olmsted TRU and they had NO Paratroopers OR the new WWII figures.

Now I remember why TRU sucks and why it was no loss when they stopped carrying the XD stuff. As mentioned above the new WWII figures ring up as "Army Desert Figures" :? Why? Give me ONE good reason other than bbi's secrecy policy?

I can think of a few reasons why that's a HUGE pain in the ass:
1) TRU monkeys say "there are 11 on the floor" - no, there are ZERO on the floor.
2) You say "new figures," they say, "they've been out for a while...we used to have them but not anymore...."
3) CANNOT DO AN ELECTRONIC INVENTORY SEARCH!! The f*%^$&g UPCs are no help either b/c they to lead back to the same skn which represents over a half dozen figures.

Long Story short - TRU SUCKS. They make WM look like your local hobby shop. There is currently no way to identify or communicate the new figures to the people that work there. None.
No news through the bbi newsletter (Mike, you out there?), no stock photos, no release info - JUST A GIANT TRU/BBI CLUSTERF*^%

Can you tell I had a long day? But seriously, wtf is going on.....?? We waited so long for these figures this is the most anti-climatic release ever. I bet half the board doesn't even realize these figures are out yet. But guess what? There's a zero coming!! :o :P :?

Such hatred Spence! I really don't know what you are talking about. I find TRU employees as some of the most informed in the business- NOT!

I think TRU and WM are about on par as far as information is concerned. TRU can be worse as far as distribution goes, though. I have NEVER set eyes on either the bbi P-51, Sherman or Corsair at my TRU. That's why I use BCT for bbi stuff. I KNOW I won't see it here. Amazing...... I hope you are happy, now you got me ticked now.... :x

I thought about posting the question to Mike, but figured we get a "wait and see" or "its so complex, you're simple minds couldn't comprehend". Would it be that hard to say, one you get word they're on the boat to the states, "Hey, there's some new figures coming out in the next few months, so keep your eyes open"? $3 a gallon gas makes toys hunting less pleasureable than it used to be.

TRU employees are clueless

Post by holensock » Mon Oct 03, 2005 4:20 pm

Have you ever tried calling a TRU? First you get to find out what time they open, then what time they close-all this on a recorded message, then you push a number to talk to someone...then you get to listen to their kiddie muzak...FINALLY someone answers and you ask to speak to someone concerning military action figures...then they put you on hold-back to that muzak-then someone answers, this supposedly is the person in charge of this action figure aisle-you explain what you're looking for-back you go on hold....they return and ask again what they look like-back you go on hold...then you get, "Nah, I don't see 'em. Try back this week as we got a truck we didn't unload yet." About twenty minutes on the phone...
Walmart's just as bad! After calling them, having the toy guy check the action figure aisle, then tells you he doesn't see anything, I stop in after work and IN the Hot Wheels aisle are the pegs that hold XD and only ONE XD guy left on the peg...

My favorite canned response is "we get a truck in everyday and don't know what's on them. Keep checking."

The thing you have to understand, though, is that the action figure aisles are a low priority for TRU. I used to work in the "Boys" department, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that at the management level, all they are interested in is R-Zone, bikes, and baby supplies. These are the high volume, high sales items and thus where they place their priorities; they're not going to go out of their way to inform their employees about anything else. You just have to either find an employee who is a collector (its been my experience that most stores have at least one) or else come armed and ready with SKN#'s or UPC#'s.

They're still my preferred place to shop, all things considered.

bbi WWii S2 figs

Post by markecho » Mon Oct 03, 2005 9:05 pm

Well between new 1:6 stuff, SW stuff, and McFarlane stuff I was surprised to see the new BBI WWII S2 figs at Tustin TRU this evening. Spent about 15 minutes back and forth "should I, or shoudn't I??"

Well I picked up 3 and quickly shot this for those who are looking for a peek...
