Thoughts/comments asked on 21st 32x Corsair
We saw very few of the 32X aircraft in my area, so I'm not familiar with them outside the box, but I understand there are 'significant' problems with the wingfold mechanism on the Corsair. I'd like to buy one if I can find a decent price, but not if I'm going to end up with wing problems. What are the wing problems, and if so is it something that's always a concern, or only if, for example, the wing is forced to fold or otherwise mis-handled? Thanks.

I think I have all of the 21c 32x Cosairs - I always have displayed with wings folded; I think they look much better than with wings extended, mainly because of the difficulty in getting the wing flush. Anyway, IMO, the landing gear looks better extended than retracted anyway (again, difficult to get doors flush).
For 14.95 at Walmart, they were "steals" - With some of the prices I see on ebay now, it's too bad Corgi dosen't make a 1/32 Corsair!
Probably have to pay $40-$50 (maybe more) to get a MIB 21c Corsair today.
They are among my favorite of the 21c 32x series.

Those are sweet looking. Makes me want to open mine.
Hey how come the Jolley Roger doesn't have a red prop spinner like usual, and "Big Hog" on the tail?

I have about 8 or 9 of the Corsairs and each one was a bit different from the other. Some had poor wing alignment when deployed, some matched up perfectly when in the deployed position. The landing gear was spotty in quality of operation too. Some good, some fair. Most had loose canopies that fell off when they were slid back. I have a few planes with replacement Squadron canopies as I tried a number of techniques to get them to stay on better and ended up ruining them.
They are nice planes regardless of their minor drawbacks though...

Those DO look good....sorry I couldn't find these in the stores and have a chance to look them over. The spotty QC is really frustrating.

Much of what there is to know has already been said in the posts above, but no one has really highlighted how the Corsair was superior to the 21c XD 1:18 Corsair in terms of detail and functionality. The plane has the full cockpit with the little window on the underside, open cowl-flaps, and better panel lines than the 1:18 plane. Really, its more like a minnature version of the BBI Corsair than the 21c plane.
The spotty QC issues were what really detracted from the model, though when one had a good example, it really was a fantastic piece. I would rate my "Big Hog" Corsair as one such example as it has wings that attach evenly, sturdy gear doors that fold flush (more-or-less) and no serious paint flaws. Its one of my favorite 32x planes that has been on near-permanent display since I got it a few years ago
