F-18 fell
F-18 fell
Fortunately no damage but i'm not sure if the belly tank is seated properly. The tab on the tank is projecting noticably from the pylon under the fuselage. I've pushed it as hard as i dare but it still projects maybe 1/8 inch or a bit more.
Is this the way it is or is something wrong or do i just need to push harder?

Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?

Aferg,
Did you have it hanging by a fishing line? If so what test (lbs) and how long was it hanging?
Mines been hanging on 50lb test for about 2.5 years now - was wondering if it was time to take it down and redo the lines.
Thanks,
Phil

yes that's pretty much what my gap looks like...slightly more on mine but only by a hair, so i guess that's the way it is.
i had it hanging with 20lb test line for about 3 1/2 years now. The only reason it fell is because i was hanging an object near it and the object fell, hit the plane and that was enough to break the fishing line and the whole thing came crashing down....a six foot drop.
I turned white but after inspecting all the bits and pieces i realized no damage was done, save a couple of mnor paint scrapes. The plane just basically broke into the comonent pieces it came in. I snapped it all back together and hung it with 40lb test line.
BBI toys are good and tough for sure. I imagine the JSI Tomcat would have shattered into 800 pieces had the same thing happened to it. Sure do wish BBI was still making 1/18.
Thanks for the pic and help!

BBI for the win(though I must say, the Corair was their low point for me...not as durable as the Hornet, Mustang, and Apache I have...my Corsair might be a lemon).aferguson wrote:yes that's pretty much what my gap looks like...slightly more on mine but only by a hair, so i guess that's the way it is.

Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:
F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

My BMF (Big Millennium Falcon) fell 5ft, bounced off a printer stand and a chair before hitting the ground last week. I was in the room when it happened and boy did I jump out of my seat. Lesson learned, BMF cannot be hung using the same line that was used for my F-18.
O'yeah, lots of parts went flying, but nothing broke.
