Built out of the box, still have to add some OMV(tools to the back I had to trade for since the Tasca ones were missing, I got the kit open) Painted with Vallejo Panzer yellow, Tank green, and Tank Brown, weathered with Mig products, tracks were done with Tamiya and Vallejo paints(depending on who's color I had one hand for the task needed) and decals are from the kit, with FoW/Vallejo gloss base to prevent silvering) then set with Microsol, and sprayed with Testor's Model Master's Lusterless flat to finish and left to dry for a week in a dustfree case.

added 1.3m FlaKrohr(barrel from the 2cm FlaK, which was interchangable with the 1.0m) and 9.Pz AA's 4121 looked to have had the longer barrel installed in some photos.

Fruilmodel, white metal individual link workable treads, held together with .20 gauge steel wire home-made track pins.

Photo-Etch crow's foot, grill covers, and wiring added to front lights. Just got in my Tristar 2cm FlaK accessories kit saturday, and plan to add two 2cm Ammo cans to the turret bins, inplace of the jerry cans.

Working on forming a dismounted crew of 4 from different kits, for Heer Panzertruppen, Aug.44(when 9.Pz entered combat in France)

that's the base I am thinking of buying/building for it.

Very cool Panzer_M

That base looks looks great.

that's the newest "two parter" from MiniArt, which I think is awesome. Prob end up with them under the tree in the next week or so. Both parts together are some 440mm long when combined(17 1/4 inches or so)

just finding shelf room for the completed scene would be a pain.

I did some B&W 35mm shots today with various infantry and some basic ground work(pink foam I am starting to form for offroad terrain)..although I think I am going to have to take it outside to get better lighting effects than I can get inside.

I'll drop the film off when I finish it the roll, and get it on CD so I can display those.

took the treads off this morning to give them some bare metal wear where the links would have been in contact with a hard surface. On this kit you can adjust the tenison on the track by moving the rear idler back or forward depending on what you want for sag. Plus like I said the whole thing is workable the front sprockets can pull the tracks all the way around the setup.

Cookie to whom can guest what is missing from the back rear corner of the Luchs, partly due to the carpet monster under the worktable. I have a replacement I am waiting for I'll add when it comes in the mail.

The only thing I wish the kit had, like with the DML pz IIs is a full interior for the turret. With the Luchs, you get two seats, basic cannon detail, and that's it..which sucks as the rear hatch on the back of the turret is also workable(you can open or close it with it's tiny german made hinges ;) )

Lastly I need to add the 2cm ammo cans once I build them from spares from the Tristar 2cm FlaK 38 gear kit or DML's 2cm FlaK crew which also has spare ammo box for the 10 or 20rd box(not sure which will fit in the turret brackets..or I'll add jerry cans if the ammo box don't fit)

I should send this to Unimax to show how subtle weathering looks vs their dip it in toner approach.

Just ordered the Tasca Pz II L early(4.Panzer Div's type..which were used up to the end of the war in the east(Kourland Pocket) and got two of the Bego Kubelwagen kits for 9.99 ea on sale(from 30 normal price)

Image

So that will be the first 2010 build. Already ordered the 1.0m 2cm KwK 38 barrel(Lionroar) vs the 1.3m barrel on "4121" of the 9.Pz A.A.

Also picked up a Dragon M4A2(diesel powered) 76mm Lend-Lease for the Red Army. Which give me 3 shermans now to build. A Firefly Ic, Sherman II DV(IIRC that's a M4A1 DV in American service) and I still have AFV early M5a1 I picked up from Chris "Toadman" Hughes which he added one of his "walk-around" Photo-CDs of a M5 from the Littlefield collection.

Yep, Great Job! Very nice camo job and it would look great on one of those diorama sets.

The dio set I finally decided on should be release in Jan/Feb 2010..the I'd get to see how much fun a MiniArt vac-u-formed building can be.

Looks like 4.Pz's Luchs were bi-tone camo..dunkelgelb '43 and lighter green than the 9th Panzer's Tri-Tone scheme..so I am thinking of using vallejo Panzer Oliv '43 or Modelmaster Pz Oliv '43 over Vallejo tank green. Least this is what I am getting from looking on Concord's two books on the 4.Panzer Division 41-43 and 44-45. I'll need to go to my copy of Panzer Tracts Pz II G,H,J,L & M book to see if can get any details on the early vs late production differances.

ok, as of this morning I got all the bits for the 4.Panzer Luchs.

Got the kit itself.

Fruilmodel metal tracks(I like the weight for a natural sag look) vs Modelkasten plastic workable tracks..between the two companies it was a 2$ differance. Only plus to M-K tracks for the Luchs is they will work on the stock sprockets without modding..the Fruils need either the metal spockets(included in the track kit) or doing some minor thinning to the plastic teeth on the kits spocket.

eduard wheel mask, just for the fact makes my job easier..order 2 sets. so when I do the PaperPanzer Flakpanzer II Luchs some time in the future I'll have these out of production masks on hand.

2cmL55 KwK 38 Alum. Barrel from Lionroar..one piece barrel vs the others on the market, some of which you have to form and solder the flashhider.

and just picked up 3 RB model 1.4m metal aerials(this is for the turret mount, that I didn't add to the 9th.Panzer Luchs) The kit supplies the 2m aerial with the crowsfoot in photo-etch

For referances on the build I am going to use:

Concord: 4.Panzer at War Pt.1(41-43) and Pt. 2 (44-45)
Concord: German Light Panzer at War
Kagero Panzer II C & Luchs (Photosniper #14) Which has decals included I never used for a ausf.C and Luchs. So i have those markings as well as the kits. I am thinking of doing her as Black 12 of the Luchs Kompanie, 4.Pz A.A.
Panzer Tracts 2-2 PANZERKAMPWAGEN II AUSF G,H,J,L & M

paints will be Primer Red as a base, then Dunkelgelb, camo'd by Panzer Olivgrun '43 all vallejo paints. Plus Mig wash/filter for bi-tone camo on dark yellow.

Btw, since Squadron.com seems to have dropped the MiG line..I'm now using Michigan Toy Soldier for my needs with my prefered customer discount I can still get it cheaper there than the local hobbies here. Plus I will atest MiG has the best personal customer service. I posted a question once about washes on Missing Lynx, and I got two emails from MiG directly addressing my concerns within 12 and 24hrs. Which beats the response time of alot of US based companies.
