how big is the PTE blackhawk?

how much smaller is the pte blackhawk than the bbi one? If someone who has the pte blackahawk could measure the fuselage length i'd appreciate it. I have an idea that would require 2 blackhawks and i don't feel like forking out the doh for 2 bbi ones. Being a bit smaller doesn't really worry me for this idea as they are just going to be sort of accessories.

any help appreciated.

hm....that's ok i guess.

does anyone know if the rotor blades will fold...i want to paint it up like a seahawk and would like the rotor blades to fold.

i saw one today in TRU....by my ruff measure it's 24 inches long excluding rotors. so about 1/24 scale ish, which is good enough for my purposes.

The rotors do fold, which is also cool for my purposes....i don't think the bbi blackhawks rotors will fold, i think they just snap in and can't pivot.

So i'm going to nab a couple of these the next time there's a true heroes sale on and make them into ad hoc sea hawks for my LCS helo pad.

I'm pretty sure the BBI Blackhawk's rotors do not fold.

BBI Blackhawk's rotors do not fold, but they do on the PTE one. Nevertheless, I much prefer my BBI helo to the PTE one in terms of overall scale and realism. However, for the money, the PTE version is nice and better than anything currently offered by Hasbro, etc. I've thought about getting the PTE bird, painting it up, giving it a few modifications, and using it with my GI Joes as some sort of experimental/uper-advanced transport helicopter based upon the blackhawk... I have yet to get around to it

i just realized that the sea hawk's tail folds in the middle. Should be some easy surgery to a PTE blackhawk to make that feature....i wouldn't want to try it with a bbi one, though.

So it seems the new PTE dauphin helicopter is about the same size as their black hawk. Surprising as i would have thought they'd make it significantly smaller, but at least that makes it closer to 1/18 scale for us, since it's a much smaller helicopter.

ii also notice on PTE"s site that they have 1:18 printed on all of their stuff, even though most of it isn't really very close. Most people wouldn't probably know the difference anyway. As i said before, ignorance is bliss... heh.

well the true heroes power team blackhawks are finally on sale at TRU so i think i'm going to grab one to make into an ad hoc sea hawk (i'm a poet and don't know it). Someone pointed out that the tale is too short relative to the body, which is a good thing in my view because it means the cabin is bigger in scale than i thought...so i would guess the front part is around 1/22 and the overall length is about 1/24.

While smallish, it's acceptable for my purposes. I want to make part of a ship's helo deck and display space is a bit tight anyway...i do all my portions of ships to 1/20 to be in scale with my PT boat, so the size difference will be a little less noticable. The folding blades are the clincher for me though, as i plan to pose it normally with blades and tail folded, plus the fact that it's cheap so if i botch it i'm only out $20 bucks.

Sometimes these cheapo psuedo 1/18 toys come in real handy.

lol.....i've had it for years. It's a Dumas 1/20 PT-109. They are normally sold in kit form but i was able to snag a built up one. Still needs some work to make it look top notch but it's in pretty decent shape. It cost me around $300 IIRC.

As far as i know Dumas kits are still available and i imagine the odd built up can still be snagged on ebay. Be careful though....Dumas also makes a 1/32 PT-109 so make sure of what you're buying. The 1/20 one is 48 inches long.
