Pricey 21st Armor 1:32
I wonder why this 1:32 Panzer is commanding such a high price?
It's loose yet everyone seems to be bidding on it.
Was this particular colored one hard to find?
I seem to remember it sitting on the shelves at Walmart for quite a while. (I bought one)
The guy's got 2, and his other one is climbing in price too. Puzzling.

Panzer IIIs seem to be one of the harder 32x tanks to find. I took advantage of them when they were around and obtained four of the five versions made. The DAK version in the auction was available from Wal Mart a couple years ago, and at least two stores in my area had several. It came in an assortment with a Panzer IVH repaint, a Brumbar, and either a King Tiger or M7 Priest (can't remember which). The tank was released first with figures and then again without.
It is not accurate to the Panzer IIIL - merely an L turret placed upon a D hull. They are one of the the first 21c cold steel releases from around 2003, and show their age. Nowhere near the detail of many FOV tanks and later 21c vehicles, but still a nice tank. While the 21c Panzer III is/was the only prebuilt 1:32 scale Panzer III on the market, it is certainly not worth $60+. $30 would be more reasonable.

Yeah I remember seeing a bunch at only one Walmart (distribution?) and thought why no figures?... well that's less of a deal. Finally I bought one. I may have actually bought two. Have to check. I used to have this "buy one mint in box, and one to display thing."
Nice looking tank. Now I know it's not accurate though. Was it one of the last repaints? hence no figures?
I think I've got a few others if not the first Cold Steel one.
I'd say it was just a couple crazy bidders on this, but the other one is going up too. Maybe they are trying to build their DAK army.

Whoa!

If that's what they go for I need to list my NIB Akrika Korp pz III asap! I bought a bunch of different 32X/Cold Steel panzer IIIs of all versions about a year ago, probably 10-12 of them, because I wanted to do a lot of customs, but I think I see a new future for these tanks...

I wouldn't put it on right now. Don't want to flood the market.
Let's see, checking completed auctions, the highest so far other than the guy selling his lots is:
M:18 Hellcat tank 32X at $52.33
Not too bad for a $15 tank. Still doesn't get close to this Panzer though with 4 days to go.

How much do you want to pay for a nice one, loose?PanzerArm wrote:Yeah, I've been looking to get one of those OD green M-18 Hellcats as I like it much better than the early light green (S1) that I have, but i can't seem to find one that doesn't go for upwards of $35. Seems certain 21st items are very popular indeed.

I've got all 3 too. At least the Priest and Panther Ambush.
Though I need to check my Panzer III's I don't know if they have the long barrel on them.
Was there a short barrel III also in that tan color?

No, only a the Panzer III L (long barrel) version was in the all-tan paint scheme. There was a Panzer III D (short barrel) in DAK markings, but it was gray with fantastic dirt weathering on it. That particular tank is my favorite of the Panzer IIIs. All in all, there were 5 paint schemes for the 32x Panzer III:
Panzer IIID in green & tan cammo
Panzer IIID in solid panzer gray cammo
Panzer IIID in weathered gray DAK cammo
Panzer IIIL in solid panzer gray cammo
Panzer IIIL in desert tan DAK cammo
Panzer IIID in green & tan cammo
Panzer IIID in solid panzer gray cammo

Cool that means I got 2 of those Tan III's somewhere in the garage.tmanthegreat wrote:No, only a the Panzer III L (long barrel) version was in the all-tan paint scheme. I made it a point to always buy my favorite too, the grey versions so I have one of each of the III's in those colors. Don't know if one of them is a IIIL though.

Actually, no I'm not. That was the green & tan one I mentioned, but you described it more accurately. I don't recall ever seeing it in person, but it is a neat paint scheme!MG-42 wrote:>>> Yer fergetting the Eastern Front dark-yellow III-L w/ the green spider camo on it.

Yes, the top tank pictured was the one I was thinking of when I mislabeled the D version in my earlier post. I never saw the L version in the cammo shown in the second picture, not even in promo pictures. As far as I know, there were only two L version of the 21c Panzer III, the gray and the tan version.
However, speaking of pricey 32x armor, I did pick up an S2 cammo Panzer 38T for $3.50 at Wal Mart
