FW190's on closeout?

Post by wm69 » Sun Jul 24, 2005 6:52 pm

Well, over the last few months I passed on several 190's that were on closeout as the planes were usually dinged up (broken guns or gouges in the paint). With the "Aces" promotion I figured I'd try and pick some up strictly for the POP's and the receipt. I went to a couple of out-of-the-way WM's and sure enough the old dinged up 190's were still right where I left them the last time I was there. On a whim I scanned them and they were all back at full price! This happened in two different stores in two different states. I dunno, maybe Wally World called everyone and told them to make sure these were marked back up to full price or something. Anybody found any of these still on clearance since the promo started?

I cover a lot of ground on the road. I haven't seen any on discount either. I've often thought the same thing wm69. :?

Man, we collectors can't get an even break from Wally!
We are doing them a favor by buying up the FW109s and now they are stiffing us by jacking up the price again!

As long as I've seen them on the shelves, they have been at regular price --- never discounted. :(

I've picked up 190's marked down with prices ranging from $20 to as low as $2 in the past. Unfortunately, since the introduction of the Aces promotion I can't find any on sale.

yeah, that kinda confirms what I've been seeing. Once they mark a plane down it usually stays in the system at the lower price until they sell all of them. Now I'm seeing them mark the 190's back up. Ah, well, I'll keep looking. You never know when someone in a backwoods WM might get sick of moving those big boxes around and sell them cheap.

I had found the first release of FWs on clearance, but they went back up to regular price with the Black 12 and the other one. Nothing since then.

I think all the remaining FW's will be going back up to their regular prices now that this contest is going on. But knowing WM they may miss a few and some of the planes, hopefully, can still be had for a bargain price.

I found one last week for $25 here in Austin. All others have been full price.
