Pickel, I think the step by step photos are great and it shows all work needed to make a custom.......thus the reason for the cost!
Put me down for one! I love it, detail, scale its just fantastic. Nice job.

BTW there are about 397 parts in this thing

I think that it took about 8 solid days over the course of 2 1/2 weeks to do this prototype. But this project was fun. Some of my others stoped being fun. ( Ki-61 Tony )

Looks great! I dont know if this is possible, but since I dont have that vehicle, what would the complete thing cost - painted assembled etc.? If you even have extra tank chassis.

OK, you have another order. 1 for now. I need to check in storage. I think I have at least 4 of the tanks with this chassis.

I do have a few Mk IVs. But the price for a full custom may be a bit pricey. As soon as I am in production (hopefully on Thur) I am going to make one or maybe two full customs and put them on e-bay. I will also put a few kits on there as well . But not at this discounted rate.

PH, I have waited comment until finished and it looks great. My question is there a chance that you would make these with a base for a stand alone AA battery. I think you can sell quite a few more and they would certainly mesh well with the new "88" right now.

Quick question on the stand alone AA battery...How where the transported? Completly disassembled or towed??

PH the Wirbelwind looks really great. I'm real impressed with this and the other work of yours that I've seen here. I hope we see some pictures of a completed and painted full conversion soon.

Forgive me for going a bit OT but you mentioned that you were hoping to make some money with your customs due to your job slowing down. Have you ever considered making custom 1:6 weapons for sale? There are a number of things that 1:6 kitbashers have been requesting for years from the major manufacturers with no luck. If interested you can check threads like this one for ideas about the things people are wanting to see made: http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/s ... hp?t=84969

Those 1/6 weapons sell for about $1.50 - $6.50 each on e-bay. If they would sell for $20-$ 30 each it could be worth doing. I see rifles on ebay that start for .99 and don't sell but I guess these are generic. I thought about getting into 1/6 armor for awile but those things are so big for mass production. And they do take a lot longer to fabricate. All this equals to more money. We are talking in the $1000 range. I know there are some that sell in the $3,000- $7,000 but they are made of metal . There are a lot of fabicators out there that do alot of 1/6 armor. But they don't do some of the second line stuff. This could be the way to go. Thanks for the tip.

I have about $175 worth of RTV into the Wirbelwinds mold as we speak. Production will start this morning. Hopefully by this afternoon. We will be ready !!!!!

I will do a stand alone quad. But I am not sure of the trailer.
I had a deal about the Wirbel when I first started but nobody bit on it .

I WILL MAKE ANOTHER DEAL. IF ANYBODY SENDS ME A TAMIYA KIT OF THE STAND ALONE QUAD FLAK 38 AND A SINGLE FLAK 38 THEY WILL GET THE FIRST PRODUCTION STAND ALONE QUAD FLAK 38 FOR AN EVEN TRADE . Expect 2-3 weeks for turn over. This offer will be out there till next friday. Nov. 28. This is a hec of a deal. Both kits should sell NO MORE than $15 each.

pH, i may have the kit of the flakvierling on trailer. I think i bought it years ago as reference for a custom and just tucked it away somewhere. Give me a day or two to scrounge around and see if i can find it. Don't have the single flak gun though.

I think it's the Italari kit i have, not the tamiya. Is that good enough?

PH, I wasn't talking about weapons like the MP40, Garand, M4 and AK47. Those things are plentiful and the prices they sell for show it. As far as weapons that have been produced but are rare some of them go for fairly high prices for what they are. I've seen the Dragon P90 go for as much as $30. Other companies have finally started producing them so the prices aren't quite so high now but they still sell for a fair amount (eBay item 280279831430). Something that's never been produced before like a PKM or RPD could probably sell for $25-35 in kit form and a fair amount more as a built and painted piece. We aren't talking about as much as what you're making on your conversions here but they wouldn't be as complex or as large either.

Here are item numbers for a few other weapons that went for relatively high ($30+) prices: 260306457686, 170274284502, 120329661597, 260306470241

Want to see something absolutely crazy? Check out this eBay listing for a 1:6 weapon set that sold for over $1000: http://cgi.ebay.com/Dragon-1-6-scale-M8 ... dZViewItem

Production has started !!!! The casting is not as bad as I thought it would be. I am just a few shy of hitting my minumum of 12 orders to get the forum discount of $85 each. So now is the time to put your orders in.
There was talk before of pricing things at a discount to do a volume sale. Here is your chance to see if this will work.
Layaways are OK . You can do money orders or pay-pal. Just pM me. Thanks.
Matthew

This is it for the Wirbelwind. I will make a couple full customs but I intended this to be kits only.
But the stand alone flaks will be coming and another piece of armor. I may do a peoples choice. Anything other than the T-34. I just don't think that it would sell.

Yep I should said it was the progression into the stand alone flak.

And as far as another piece of armor my choice would be a M3 or M5A1 Stuart...being a big fan of the old GI Combat comic books I am sure you can see why I would love to have this in 1/18.

Like this one at the Patton Musuem in Ky. I went there this summer and was in awe of all the armor.

A couple of guys have asked me about this and I need to clear up the confussion.
There were several hundred pieces parts used to constuct this project but there are only about 26 pieces in the final kit not counting screws. All of the working parts use tiny screws to hold them together. CA glue should be used to stick on some of the details seat post , front gear and the like.
I have designed the guns so that they are removable from the turret.

Crew access is another thing. The 2 loaders can be put in with the gun in place. But the seats probably should not me stuck to the floor of the turret. THEY ROLL OFF AND DON'T WANT TO SIT STRAIT ON THEM. The seats can be installed for static display.

The gunner is another thing. I recomend that he be put in before you screw the gun platform in. The seat post should NOT BE MOUNTED AS WELL AS THE FOOT REST. The figures do not articulate like a human would. He does not sit strait as well with his seat.

I guess this is one of the reasons of the very first XD figure being made as a scale midget to fit into the cockpit of the Bf 109.
