Personally, I have some serious doubts that Wal-mart will be rolling out 21st Century 1:18 scale stuff like has been mentioned in this thread. 21st Century items are more of a specialty product and that is not traditionally the kind of product that Wal-mart puts on the shelf. Previously, Wal-mart has gotten in some product around the Christmas season (presumably targeted to gift buyers) then they turn around and clearance it off a week after Christmas. How can they be making any money that way?

I'll believe this "big Wal-mart roll-out" when I see it. ;)

Many didn't believe there would be figures on the pegs - but there are. And I don't think there has been one report of clearanced figures, 1/2 tracks, Panzers....they take up less space and don't need to move now that they have their own spot 8)

I don't think the rep was lying when he said eventually (fall?) it would be mass distributed. I think there are very few WM in the country that have seen zero XD at this point, but it did take a while.

My local Walmarts seem to have the attitude of Clearancing the 1/18 stuff when "hell" freezes over..

Yep, clearance days are over with XD at WM. That's ok if it means better fiscal health for 21st and the XD line. Now if they would just stop making all that dumb armour

Why are armor pieces dumb? I think they are just as important as the aircraft.

Saw the new 1/6 R/C Hummer at Georgetown WM. Also several 1:18 Bubble tops P-47's on the top shelf w/ 1 Blue 12 FW 190.

Several of the R/C Humvees at the WM in Gates (a Rochester suburb) today. Nothing else new, and no sign of any figures. Still a few of the Tigers and some helos piled up at full price.

I'm sure others have already said this, but too bad the R/C Humvees don't have clear window glass (or open windows) and an interior. That might have made them interesting.

An interior would have deffinitely made the vehicle cool. (I haven't seen one yet so I'm basing my post on what the rest of you have said). $200 is alot to spend for something that essentially just drives around. The Stuart tank was very cool and seemingly well worth the price as it had so many other functions, even if one couldn't properly fit a figure in the hatch. It sounds like these Hummers will mostly sit and warm the shelves until the occasional discount.

I don't know about the days of XD clearances being over. I just picked up a few FW190s on clearance for $5 each less than a month ago. I have found that each individual WM store tends to decide when they are going to clearance stuff and for how much. Some of the stores never clearance anything and others are much more aggressive with their clearances.

When I say the days of clearance prices are over, I mean the salad days where Spitfires and P40's would appear new and pristine on the shelves at $5 to $15.
Yep, some WM's will clearance stuff they've had on the shelf for a while, but not most of the stores in my area. It just sits until it sells or until the box is so beat that it goes to the markdown aisle with the hair dryers and bonus pack sponge bob diapers.
If I really like a plane no way am I going to wait until it is marked down as stale mdse.

PS: The armour thing was just meant to set some of you dog-faces off a bit. Might have worked

Hey pokeyjtc, do you still have these FW190s??
I would be interested in knowing what you got for $5 bucks and seeing if you wanted to trade for something?
Let me know.

Walmart

Post by 75th Ranger » Thu May 19, 2005 10:13 am

I wonder what the hell! the walmart distribution does all day, because for sure the items don't seem to get to us at our local stores...

I have called wlamart 4 times in the past month requesting the items to be brought to my local store and NADA, zip, Nothing!

It is impressive that Walamrt stores are open 24hrs but the itmes are not there to be found!

If they realy want to sell the items they should at least put them on the online site so that other people not near the supposedly test stores can buy them. tjhat way they would have a better idea of the real market that there is avaiable for the 21st line.

anyways, my patience is running kind of low....during this season since none of our toy manufacturers have put any items for sale in the stores.....seems like the toy market is going to be a one time yearly event during X-mas.

Go figure

Checked out the WM in New Castle, Pa today and, true to form, the place was full of 1:6 and 1:32 stuff, along with moss-covered red fws, dday spits, and p47rbs in 1:18. All at full price.

As for 1:32, I saw the mustang "Undertaker" for the first time and it is to date the best 1:32 plane I've seen. I wasn't planning on buying the 1:18 version but after seeing its smaller brethren I may have to rethink things.

Assuming, of course, that the new mustang comes out this side of 2009...

This is the first I heard of a 32x Undertaker P-51. Is this the first sighting???? I didn't think they were going to do the Pacific version.......

I take it you are referring to this paint scheme:

Reading up on the pilot, I can why:
