STOP! OK, just stop...

Post by Ruger » Thu Aug 28, 2008 7:37 pm

Oh sure, it was funny at first.

I got a bit of a chuckle out of it.

My girlfriend got a chuckle out of it. She's still laughing a bit, though it's changed from "with" to "at".

And when it stretched on, it was even funnier.

But now it's gone on long enough.

While I can appreciate the effort you all have put into it, and the co-ordination it must have taken is simply amazing, it's time to let it go.

I don't want to give the impression that I'm less than impressed, all the effort you all have put forth has certainly been evident. Frankly, I'm amazed that you would all go to such great lengths just to pull a prank on a couple of central California residents that it's likely none of you will ever meet in person. And the Photoshop skills some of you have displayed are above reproach.

But the gig is up. I'm on to you all, and I suspect T-man is in the know as well.

There was never any 21st at Target.

There was never any clearance of FOV at Target.

There was never any clearance of 21st at Walmart.

There was never any disappearence of either 21st or FOV from TRU.

There's nothing new from either manufacturer, be it mold or merely paint scheme.

It's ok, you can admit it now. Even if T-man hadn't figured out your ruse by now, he'll see this post and it will all be as plain as day.

I've got to admit, you had me. You really had me. Had I not been so thoroughly taken in, I wouldn't have taken the afternoon off of work today, burnt some vacation hours I had lingering about to drive to Target, Toy's 'R' Us, and Walmart. Just like I wouldn't have made my girlfriend stop into Toy's 'R' Us last Friday night on our way out to dinner. Nor would I have been constantly insisting on trips to Target at least once a week for the last month, complaining that I was out of toothpaste when I just wanted to check on the tanks (the plus side is I won't need anymore toothpaste for several years...). You had me. I fell hook, line, and sinker.

Even this afternoon, I still wasn't willing to admit that you all had played a colossal practical joke on me, and went by the Tuesday Morning store to search out 1:72 planes someone had mentioned an interest in. I'm beginning to wonder if that was all part of the joke...

And it is all a joke, right?

Right?

Have I ever mentioned I'm lactose intolerant? I just thought I'd throw that in here.

I think Ruger is on to something. I visit most of the same stores he does Either way, with 8 Targets, 10 Wal Marts and three TRUs, one would think at least one Target would get the 32x items in, or that at least one Wal Mart would get new products in a timely manner. Well, I guess not and its been damn annoying. 32x Spitfires only now showed up after about four months from the initial sighting at Wal Mart. There are still no 1:18 dual packs. Further, from the sound of it, TRUs in the east have gotten a more diverse selection of the 21c 1:18 goodies. I will admit that the famous WM discounts did occur, but at only one of the 10 Wal Marts, and it never had very much in the way of 21c anyways.

So, Ruger is not going off his rocker, per se, but just venting the frustration most of us in the western states feel. The distribution is a joke, it has killed 21c, and only a few ever got to reap the benefits... the same members as always...

Good one Ruger! :D

What blows me away is that as the bird flies the west coast is much closer to China than the midwest. How is it that we are sometimes a year behind in distribution? I know that the left coast is less military-friendly than other parts of the country, but I live within 50 miles of a major Army and AF base, a nuc sub base, home to six wings of naval aviation and numerous other, smaller military facilities. You mean to tell me this is a lousy area for military toys? To quote a most famous cat and Deathtongue member, PHHHHTTTTT!

Rowsdowser:

Have you considered that by sitting down with a Lactosian. Sharing life experiences and getting to know them as individuals you could overcome this wretched intolerance you have and learn to live in Peace, together. Why can't we all just get along.

We must all strive to stamp out intolerance, in all its forms, where- and when- ever we come upon it.

I am sorry, but we need to stay the course with McCain and 1/18. He is behind the original scale 100%.

Thats strange cause i was in Palm Springs Ca., a month ago and stopped by two targets which had the new 21stc stuff, and out here in Tucson one target has the new stuff while the other restocked forces of valor after having a clearance sale.

I got it wrong. McCain supported 1/18 then 1/48 and finally 1/16. Hillary has been the staunch 1/18 supporter and now we are screwed!

I believe that it is Obama who supports all scales for all people and who plans a government program in which new, higher taxes will pay for the redistribution of "Big Hobby" windfall profits to the small and under funded hobbyists across the nation.

The only problem is in the small print: "All so called 'war toys' will have their weaponry removed and replaced by more peaceful accessories. All national symbols, most especially flags, will be replaced with pure white. Soldiers will not have helmets or berets but fedoras, and desert soldiers will have parasols, while other troops will carry umbrellas instead of rifles. All 1/6 scale soldiers will have their heads replaced with Barbie or Ken heads (Skipper-head is acceptable as an alternative) and all uniforms will be in the UN light blue color. Little Green Army Men will be referred to as 'Peacey Boys'"

Uh Oh. We better stop the move from a little political joke to political satire. Not that I wouldn't support a candidate running on a pro-XD stance.
