21st Century Toys 1:18 Information Q&A (Area-21 Pres)
TKO211:
Two more questions:
1. Is there a chance the new-mold 1/18 P-47 Thunderbolt will include another "Eileen"? The earlier 1/18 and 1/32 Eileens had the very popular paint scheme similar to the P-51 "Big Beautiful Doll"---the checkerboard nose. I would think a new-mold 1/18 Eileen would still be big seller.
2. Could you pass on to Roy that I think a re-release of the 1/18 M4 Sherman, Series 1 might sell well?
The SSHQ posts on the FOV 1/18 Sherman's popularity is proof that there is a demand for a 1/18 Sherman---even though the FOV 1/18 Sherman is vastly inferior to the 21st 1/18 Sherman. If 21st would re-release the Sherman, Series 1 (even on a limited run of 5,000 similar to its 1/32 planes), I think the Sherman would be a big seller.
Thanks again for your info.

More 1:18 Please
I sure wish we didn't have to beg the toy makers to put out more 1:18 models. I mean, obviously there's a market for these large planes and vehicles as we are all posting on these boards and also they way 1:18 stuff goes on online auction sites. The fact is, most of the buyers are folks who played army in the backyard with GI Joes as kids and now, these highly detailed models of REAL planes (okay, the Skystriker was an F-14) provide many of us with the ability to enjoy these as "Big Kids." Many of are married and have to explain to our wives why we are filling up the spare room with large scale planes. Many of us are military aviation fans. Many of us are willing to spend good money to own these really neat toys.
So, like many others out there reading this board, I say to the 1:18 "toy" makers. Build them, we will buy. We will go to Toys R Us and head to the military collectibles aisle in hopes of getting the newest planes. But...please don't promise B-25s and F-4 Phantoms only to have us wait for retread planes. Like the folks who follow Mac computers, collectors of 1:18 planes (be it BBI or Ultimate Soldier), there's a sense of loyalty and passion for the product. That's not something a lot of companies can say.

I have almost no answers from 21C right now. Sorry guys It's been very quiet. I am still around and I have been lurking on the 1:18 forum as this is my true love! Sorry I have been neglecting to check in over here in the questions area.
So... Let me try to tell you what very little I do know. KT and 88 have been held back due to "complications" with the factory in China and also some thing or another it seems? I suspect that the shrinking economy and other issues in China are factors in the delay. I have been assured that these projects are going to release and that investments in the projects are complete. Release and timing are the issues now I suppose.
KT will be cool but I personally think the 88 is going to be the rock star!
what else... 32x spitfire just released so thats old news. There is a slump in 1:18 figures at the moment and I am not too certain that we will see new ones till fall.
There is supposed to be another P-38 repaint still in the works.
So like I said- It's been really really quiet and I am not certain of why. hopefully it's just a break before the storm?
