I don't understand Walmart at all. Their sales strategies are terrible.
Check this: One of our WalMarts has 8 Russian Mig-15's, (4) OldCrows and (2) Tigermeet 104's. They also have (2) Mitch's F-86's, and (3) PH P-40's as well.
They have the F-86's and P-40's on the clearance rack for $20. However, the remaining Mig's, 104's, and P-51's are all still listed at $39.84.
This set up has been like this for two months now but no changes to shelf position or price changes and nobody seems to buy anything, not even the clearance stuff.
I swing by there on my way home from work every other day and I usually ask someone in the toy department what gives? Why not clearance every thing else? Or make everything $39.84? I even try to haggle them on the Mig-15 because I want one for my Huff F-86 to attack, but they won't do anything. I'm not in that much need of a Mig15, just only if it's for $20. I love the F-86. Sweet looking plane. But for some reason I think the Mig15 is one ugly aircraft. I'm just not that willing to pay full retail for something that I only barely want or need.
Is that called being spoiled or what!

The Lenoir, NC store has their plane's at $25, also. I'm not planning on collecting in this scale, but I did want to get something just to have one. So, I picked up their last "Big Beautiful Doll" P-51. They also had several "Old Crow" P-51s and Korean MiG 15s and one Chinese tiger-stripe MiG 15.

I was very pleased to find that the selection of 1:18 planes at a local Wal Mart - which were just put out a week or so ago - have now been discounted to $25
The discounts must be a company-wide policy... Either way, I picked up a "Chinese" Mig-15 which looks a whole lot better for $25 and may go and get the "Canadian" F-104 as well
I already have examples of the other remaining aircraft: Huff F-86s, BBD and Old Crow P-51s.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, has anyone noticed the paint job for the F-104 that has Strategic Air Command on the tail. It has multi-colored stripes around the engine intakes. I just noticed it for the first time last night in Litchfield IL.

Made the rounds in South Bend, IN and Niles, MI. Nothing real exciting. Mishawaka and Niles both had several of the S2 D-Day figs and Mishawaka had the new Otto and DAK figs. NIles did have the Tiger Meet and George AFB F-104s plus the Huff on clearance for $25. Other than that, nothing to report for 1/18. Did see the Stuka/Macchi and Zero/Corsair Dogfight packs for 1/32, but hey, that's 1/32...

well, I pulled a WM find no-no, this should be rule we need to create here, but if you see something on clearance at WM and decide NOT to pick it up then and decide to come back in a few days/next day don't do it because it could be gone. I did not follow this rule and now ALL of the $25.00 planes are gone within 24 hours!!warhawker wrote:JACKPOT!!
Found the two Tiger Mig, two Russian Mig, two BBD P-51 and one Mitch F-86 on clearance yesterday for $25.00! I so feel like stocking up and grabbing them all.
I know that there will come a time when the call will go out, "...does anyone one have an extra MIG/P-51/F-86 out there??"

Stopped at my local wally-world(bremerton WA) 1/18th planes still at $25.
Talked to the toy person. He told me wal-mart was not going to be selling 1/18th planes any more that once the ones in the system are gone that's it
. Whether this is true or not we shall see.

Xcept for the black p-40- 29.00 forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like TRU may have to take up the slack whether they have room or not...mikeg wrote:Since there ain't a whole lot of shelf room for 21st at TRU-- does this mean our new 1/18th AC selections will be from BCA and the like? 90.00 retail, 69.00 for you!!!!

Sounds like we've heard this before... I wouldn't hold my breath for the end of 1:18 at mass retail just yet. Perhaps some stores will stop stocking the items as they didn't sell well (there's a couple Wal Marts in my area that seem to have done so) but others probably will not and there will be more stuff yet to come
On another note, XD would sell MUCH better if Wal Mart didn't order 12 of each plane in an assortment and stick them in the most remote stores away from major population centers where no one is likly to buy very many of them. Then again, what do I know about the "politics" of mass retail distribution

In Washington state the only 21C clearance I have ever seen is a few 1/48th AC marked down from 9.96 to 7.96. Are these present in your AO in the clearance aisle with tags well marked, or are you just pulling them off the shelves and scanning to find a reduced price?

In my store, at least, some are on an endcap in the toy section facing a main walkway with a giant $24.99 price sticker above them (I had to ask an employee if that was for real the first time I saw it!) The rest of the aircraft are actually across from the toy section, on top of a shelving unit full of house-cleaning goods where one needs a ladder...

olifant the one i go to (BREMERTON) the 1/48 scale aircraft were redtaged and marked down to 5.00 last time i checked and yes most of the time they seem to use the red tags on the items.
Except the 1/18th airplanes at $25 are still yellow tagged.Plus i do use the scanner to check some things as i have found items even cheaper than the tag price marked.
Some other items here I have seen on clearance are the 1/48th scale tanks and vehicle's 1/32 scale figure sets , A.T gun sets $5.00 If I recall right and a couple tanks were down to seven bucks but those are all gone.

Over on this side of the state the 1/48 scale armor was reduced to $3.00 back at the end of july, when it was gone it was not replaced, all the 1/18 airplanes were down to $20.00,have not seen any since, the only 1/32 items are play sets, models and airplanes, the only 1/18 items are D-day figures and afrika korps figures at this time in the 3 wallmarts in spokane.

I work in Tacoma so I usually go to one in Pierce Co. or the one by Hawk's Prarie. I think four or five years ago I picked up an old Motorworks Bf-109 for $25 bucks and early this year after X-mas bought a dual pack 1/32 for $20 but those or the only clearance items I have ever seen.
Thanks for the heads up though!

Every Walmart in The Tulsa/BA/ Bixby area has their XD planes marked down to $25.00..
I also spoke to a Toy mananger in one of the stores and she confirmed that after this last round of XD, they won't be getting anymore, and she was quite happy about it..
