Guys and Gals,
I finally found some time to upload my pics I shot for the custom contest.
I worked on a hill for a German gun emplacement that never made it into the pics. The hill was a made from train scenery materials and was a real learning thing for me. I am glad I did it. I used part of "the hatch" diorama for the top of the hill where the German soldiers are hunched behind. As I shot my pics, I went through 3 cameras (2 of them were my wife's) to get the right look and no shadows. As I shot the pics, I developed a story and just did not have enough pics to include my hill in them. So, I left it out. Maybe I should have included it.
I think of you all as comrades in 1/18 and 1/32 arms. So, I don't have a problem showing you my work. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.

Reminds me so much of that scene in SPR where they shoot the sandbags and the of the German MG crew falls down the hill... Well done!
What paint did you use for the hedgehogs and how did you make the sand look "wet"?

Everyone,
Thanks for the kind words!
Grunt,
The hedgehogs is painted with an acrylic base paint.
The wet sand was suppose to be the surf washing up on the beach. Just another lesson in the making of a diorama - FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS!
I was working with Realistic Water and had used a base of styrofoam with plaster cloth over it and paint. In the directions for Realistic Water it says to use FOAM PUTTY on top of the plaster cloth to stop the Realistic Water from leaking through the plaster cloth. This stuff also requires 24 hours for it to dry properly. I was working on this project after all else went to bed and in downstairs bathroom. So, I would pour out the Realistic Water, set it at the correct angle to for the Water to "pool up" on my sandy beach. Well, I would take a look at it when I came home from work the next day and the pools of Water were gone! Just a shinny residue left where some of it dried as the rest leaked through my plaster cloth.

The "wet" look is not what I was going for, but it seemed to work.
shadows ...

Hey Razor,
THe shadow problem your having is due to the lighting, mainly the flash. Problem to correct this is having a removable flash that is sync'd up with the camara. Not many folks have this. The best angle to place the flash would be from above, thus casting shadows downwards. I know it doesn't help in this situation, but perhaps maybe an idea would be to take the module scene(it is movable ???) outside with perhaps bushes or trees to use as a background during the middle of the day. That way the sun casts shadows downwards and perhaps a flash is not needed. I hope maybe this gives you a new idea to eliminate your "shadow" problem
