Finished these up last night. The Sherman isn't precisely accurate, but it's close enough for my purposes. It's certainly more accurate than my DAK 251 Ausf D.

I really like what you have done with the PZIV's. They came out nice. Did you repaint the Sherman or is that the BOB whitewash still on it?

That's the BOB whitewash. I'm trying to figure out how to effectively apply either a tan or sand dusting to cut the white. It's pretty close as is, but it's not quite where I'd like it. I'm thinking maybe thin the heck out of some paint and spray a light coat to achieve the effect I'm looking for. I'll have to do some practice painting first.

your PZ IV will certainly look better if you paint the fire extinguisher grey instead of red

Was it supposed to be grey?

Just did some research on Missing Lynx. Fire extinguishers are the same color as the tank(whatever that color happens to be). Looks like I need to fix that.

the winter sherman works pretty well as a north africa vehicle...i've thought of using it for that myself. The sand in many areas of north africa, particularily in tunisia, was very white-ish grey in colour, rather than orangey. So dusty vehicles looked very white-ish. Also, the sand was sometimes mixed with water and slopped onto the tanks like paint, to act as a temporary camouflage. The germans did that a lot when they first arrived in north africa with their dark grey vehicles and the americans did it somewhat too, in order to tone down the olive drab.

It was with this type of custom in mind that I bought that Sherman many moons ago. I got it for a pretty decent price too. Less than $40 NIB if I remember correctly. As it is, I'd still like to get a layer of sand color on it. If only to blend in the new paint job somewhat.

TETRA was the fire extinguisher furnisher and their stuff were painted grey. Some may have been "camouflaged" by crews and stayed camouflaged if not used but you can suppose that replacement one stayed grey as it wasn't an absolute necesity of having them "camouflaged".
