Small Scale Military Headquarters

Just a face lift on one you've seen before. The decals I had applied before looked like poo, so I decided to re-do them. I was out of #1s so the turret number was changed to #2. I also added divisional markings and applied a new Afrika Korps Palm. Regimental and divisional markings were also applied to the right rear. I used John's Stuff decals for this project. Enjoy.

Yup. 1/18th. It started life as an S-1 RC Panzer before receiving a new paint job about a year or so ago. Actually, I finally pulled the guts just last night. I was tired of not being able to reposition the turret without either turning it on or taking it apart.

Looks great! I've been intending to get a hold of an old RC Panzer and do the same. As for the dust, it adds quite well to the weathering effect

Then you can consider yourself among the fortunate few that know my weathering secrets. It's the only method I can execute with any success.


The nice thing about the RC Panzers is the exposed road wheel and return roller pins. Use a small flat-head screw driver to carefuly lever the pins out. It makes painting the hull a snap. I have already prepared the hull for my Ausf F1 in this manner. It didn't occur to me to remove the road wheels and such until after I had painted the Ausf G.

Thats awesome! I should start doing stuff like this, but I would probably screw it up.

Hey, ya gotta start somewhere.

The decals and paint are relatively inexpensive, and you can always start over if you bogger something up. As evidenced by this thread. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
