21C Bf-109G to F conversion?

I just completely disassembled my 1/18 Seeman 109G-6 and would like to replicate the 1/32 Schultz 109F paint scheme as a custom. Any key differences between the two models I need to take into account?

Quite a few :)

You need to lose the "hump" flairings for the nose cannons, remove the hump for the wheels on the wings, remove the wing cannons, change the main landing gear wheels to the one on the BF-109E, and add a small triangular window below the first side window. (You will see a sort of triangle there, it stands out)

Okay. Lost the feed chute bulges and underwing cannon a while ago. Guess the wheels are gonna have to stay up, and I need to do something about the wing bulges. The window I guess will be the tricky part.

BTW, the triangular window. Is this on the windscreen portion of the canopy?

i'm really surprised we havent seen a slightly retooled desert repaint of the 109G from 21c by now. The desert scheme is a classic.

You must also remove all the small cowl intakes (see below) as these were not found on the F model, unfortunately this detail appears to have escaped 21stCT notice as these can be found on the 1/32 scale Fs, but I guess that is the price you have to pay when you use common fuselage parts to created more than one model variant.

I alluded to a simular fact some time back when I pointed out in a thread that the modular construction technique used for the G, allowed many other variants to be created and if you were prepared to live with the odd incorrect intake or hatch as a result you could have all of the post E model 109s.

In the same thread TKO also kind of confirmed that as with the 262 A/B models that this is why a modular technique is used.

Don't forget the air filter . The Star of Africa had them as well as all of the 109s in that theater.

Yep, trying to figure out how to scratch build a trop. air filter is high on my list.

Before the flood a local hobby shop had a thin sheet of alumium with tiny square holes in it. A tiny mesh deal not like a screen for you back patio . This would be perfect for the trop filter. Or you could just do a dowl and paint it silver and do a fauxe sreen paint job. The clam shell on the front of it should be fairly simple to replicate.
