The 29 dollar investment from Target -

When a Hornet is down behind enemy lines or a lil direct-action operation must take place to wreak havoc upon annoying tangos...ready for the occasion are the Dudes and Dudettes of HCS-5, also known as the "Firehawks." This West Coast squadron is one of two Reserve Units, including HCS-4 Redwolves from Norfolk, Va, that specialize in Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) and Naval Special Warfare Support as their primary missions - this is where the U.S Navy's HH-60H comes in. Of course, since the big three ain't coming out with anything this kick ass anytime soon...a lil something' somethin'
had to be done...












The Side Panel (With the Two sliding windows) is completely removable. Pressing on the bottom pylon releases the it, giving more room to maneuver the action figures and /or cargo.











And the "REAL Steel"





What's left to add:

1. Working Winch
2. Decals / and or Paint for Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Five - Fly Navy!
3. Antennas / Avionics
4. Gatling Gun - accept no subsitute.

Thanks again for your input and comments. I will post some of the other pics at different stages and the new additions as they are completed. I'm thinking of doing a mix of both painting and using decals for squadron insignia. I initally wanted the aircraft to be done in all naval gray and it does look very good but I also liked the rare two tone camo scheme and it was a difficult choice. I will also post pics of the airframe before it was painted.

Thats kick ass Rob! Maybe I will try and find some time to finish my USCG MH-60T that I've been tinkering with for a while now.

The crew from HCS-4 usually show up at the Oceana airshow, and of course bring their H model to display. If you need any detail pics of their helo drop me a line. The show will be in a couple of weeks and I of course will be there.

I would TOTALLY appreciate any pics you can come up with. I scoured the net for as many pics as possible and I did get the UH-60 in Action Book but it turns out to be a bit dated. I was very torn between East Coast vs West Coast squadrons too. I wanted to go with the East Coast because of my ties with the Norfolk area...but then I just found out the helo which I thought was HCS-5 is in actuality HS-6 "Indians" (The pic with the Fastroping Seals) HCS-5 the bottom pic shown here is that squadron. Anyway, any pics of the antenna locations and any dirty details you can come up with. In fact based on what I learned I'm still open to changing the squadron colors. Right now, I'm leaning toward HS-6. I will be posting construction pics in a few. Thanks for you your input man!

I installed the antennas and the wire-cutters to the front areas of the helo and I have the working winch almost ready (not shown yet). I took the existing fuel tanks from the Blackhawk and made the single port-side fuel tank and connected it to the lower pylon. I then had to rebuild the 'screw-hole covers' and blend paint over them. There are a few other antennas and details that will eventually be put on. The gatling gun / misc armament and the decals will be the next thing to work on.

I'll have to get a pic of an Operator fast-roping or pallets/cargo getting lifted on the hoist... It took me most of the day to figure out the front passenger windows on the door. It was Uuugly! You are probably still at the Oceana Show...The pics should be interesting!
Slowly but surely. I'm assembling each of the 6 barrels onto the rotary mount. Hopefully they had the M134 there. I finally fixed the rear rotor to the 20 Degree canted tilt. There are also some details that I still want to add so I'll refer to the pics you end up taking. (Right Click or click center mouse button to move arrow to see full image)
