Col. just to give you a quick update: my research is complete - accuracy counts. Layout design is completed and drafted. Vehicle/aircraft/troops have been commissioned. Construction is the next phase followed by painting and detailing. Just one hint - TOTALLY RC!! My dio. is going to make the Walt Disney's Its A Small World aomatronics look like Saving Private Ryan on steroids!!

I have not conferred with the other judges on this, but as I recall, the original intent was that you could enter in both categories, but only once per category. The idea was that this will be difficult enough for the judges, and we did not want to be swamped with entries.
As to your second question, we agreed on a maximum of 5 pictures per entry/storyline. Now remember, you also have the ability to add in a written story line and backstory. Make the pictures kickass but they do not in themselves have to tell the whole story. Just the highlights you want to feature.
Other judges please pm me if we need to discuss this further.
Oh... great work! Can you make one for me in 1/32?

I know there is no photoshopping allowed, but can I use a picture (photo or painting) as a background / backdrop in my Dio?
I have a hedgerow and would like a large tree w/ it in the background w/ sky etc,.

How's everybody doin'?!?! can't hardly wait to get mine done and see everybody else's 8)

I had the same question about a background too.
But I thought the problem of "photoshopping" was using something to alter the photo after it is taken and not the setup of the photo itself.

Judges, please address this and clearify for us...

I can't wait to see everyone's creations too!

Judges- has TKO entered this contest or has he been alerted to it?
It would be nice to get some coverage from 21st Century...

I would not have a problem with photos being used as a backdrop. The "no Photoshop" rule is intended to eliminate the use of "trick" photography" and digital manipulation to substitute for actual figures, vehicles etc. If you are showing a custom paint job it should be real paint on a real model, and not digital trickery. By the same token, I would not want to see a "digital" pilot bailing out of an actual model.
I hope that makes sense.
If the other judges wish to discuss this further, please PM me and we can get a consensus.

ya, it would be cool if 21st got involved. They could post some pics or an article on area-51 and who knows... maybe donate a prize 8) ? My project was speeding along until school started and then it kinda ground to a halt (soooo much homework) so I'm gonna have to double-time it to finish it by deadline. I'd post pics but there's nothing I can take pics of without spoiling the whole thing.

Okay something we need to decide as there is only a couple of weeks left before the contest deadline: Is there a prize??? If so, how are we gonna buy it, is there gonna be 2nd place and is there gonna be seperate prizes for seperate catergories?
