The buildings are made from craft store 1 inch thick styrofoam and covered in a layer of plaster. Scrap wood and small molds were used for the other details of the building. I use a brick mold on top of the un dried plaster to get the brick effect. A little tedious bu effective (beats carving them out by hand)

In regards to the Marine diorama.....the base was built from styrofoam and covered with plaster. I then used spray glue and and sprinkled craft store sand to give that effect. The water is made from a base coat of paint and covered in a half inch of envirotex high gloss finish. Water is impossible to work with on a diorama you would like to keep around for a while. This looks just as good in my opinion.

I am finishing up another building this week stay tuned..... :o

Never thought I would be so impressed by a wall! Heh!

Tool that is awesome work...I know this might be too much trouble for you..but do you have pics of the wall being built? You know some steps in-between? Or even a pic of the brick mold. Cuz I don't see any kind of pattern at all!!! Way cool!
It looks very professionally done! Is it 2 pieces stacked on top of one another? - and even the doorway! Nice!
I would love a wall like that for dio purposes and I especially like the big hole in the walll like it was hit by a tank, arty or a bomb! - all the bullet holes and everything..dang! Painted and weathered to perfection!

I am at such a loss of how to display my 1:18 military stuff..that it is now all in boxes in my garage  ....

Plus I don't have the patience and talent to come up with something like that.

Again great work! Awesome piece!

I like your bridge too - I remember seeing pics (I think) when you first started it. Also like your Cobra army!
It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!

Thanks for the generous comments. The building is made from one peice of styrofoam not including the side wall, the entry way and foundation were made from plaster poured deeper held up by wood supports until dry. Like a dope I didn't take any pictures to document the buiding process but a great idea for next time. When working with plaster there are alot of imperfections which work really well for the worn beat up look. I hope to create enough structures to put togther a large scale diorama one day.
