Drop tanks for Avenger

has anyone made some drop tanks for their Atlantic Avenger? Seems they were often carried during long patrols. Thought it would be a nice addition. I was going to use the tanks from my 21c Lou IV. They seem to have the right look and are about the right size. Anyone come up with something better?

The S1 P-51 drop tanks would look pretty good short of customizing your own. Its funny, but on the XD model, there are actually 3 small holes just aft of the landing gear well and next to the little flip down "hatch" that look like a potential place where a drop tank could be installed. In the pictures I've seen of the real thing, that is right where they were mounted.

I have noticed that to, I was thinking that 21st my add them some time down the road, or planed on adding them and nixed it. Who knows

well the Lou IV drop tanks look pretty good on the Avenger. A tiny bit big but they look fine.
I also made a mk 55 depth bomb (using one of the bombs that came with Killer as the base) and put little radar attanae under each wing, made out of paper clip bits. Looks really good and will set it apart nicely from the Pacific avenge i will eventually have.
I also folded the bomb doors as they should be. Pretty easy to do, the fold line is molded on the inside of each door so i just scored it several times with a sharp knife, snapped it and reglued in bent position. If one wanted to be fancy you could make some kind of a hinge mechanism.....i can think of a few ways of doing it but didn't really need to as i want to display it like that permanently.

Post some pics of that bad boy! I am curious! And while curiosity may have killed the cat, it also brought us the SR-71 Blackbird

the antannae were easy....just a bit fiddly. Look at the link at the top of this thread and you'll see what they look like and where they go.

Those little inverted T's under each wing?
Looks simple to do, I might try that...
Is there a way to make opening cowl flaps?
I love the look of planes with them open, it looks so menicing

Anyone have a pic of a TBF/TBM in service with drop tanks?
I've never seen/noticed them.

i have seen a couple of pics of atlantic avengers with them. They needed them for long patrol and loiter times.
I don't know if pacific avengers used them or not. You'd think so, when going on long distance raids but i can't recall every seeing them.
