G scale(1/22.5) as a general rule works pretty well. Piko also has a wide variety of buildings available. I have a Piko building that I just haven't gotten around to building yet. The Pola I picked up for about $60 on Ebay, and the Piko was around $120 at the local hobby shop.

Very cool. Gives a great idea on how well the Pola stuff works with XD. I was especially happy when I saw that the german standing in the doorway has a decent amount of headroom between his lid and the jam.
If you know where to obtain a depot or run across one let me know.

Okay, here's the full disclosure. The doors the soldiers are standing in are warehouse doors, not personnel doors. If I was to stand them in the personnel doors located on the ends of the building, their foreheads would touch the top of the door frame. The doors are about a half an inch short. Provided you buy/pose accordingly, these are details not readily noticed. Again, G scale is about the closest you'll get to 1/18 and still have a wide variety of structures to choose from.
If I see anything good, I'll let you know.
Okay, here's a couple of sites one of the guys here hooked me up with. My apologies for not remembering who.

http://www.trainworld.com/pola/index.html These prices are about as good as you'll find on a commercial website. Use the item #s to locate images on other sites to compare the buildings.

That's the beauty of a pivoting viewfinder screen.
The camera was just about on the ground, but I could still see the shot.

I am gonna have to recon the local model train stores for one of those Pola depot buildings, it looks great. Nice job, only thing that might make it a bit nicer would be some weathering, but otherwise outstanding work.
