Bunker Hill F4U

Post by MightyMustang » Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:32 pm

After seeing some pics of actuall Bunker Hill F4U's a thought occured to me. Why not take the rockets that came with Marines Dream and put them on the Bunker Hill bird? The photos showed VF-84 did use the rockets so I'm going to put the BBI rockets to good use. Anyone else had this idea or thought of it?

Rockets

Yes, I've been waiting for the Avenger to come before I could do this. I put my pictures in the Reference room forum; her they are in the correct forum.

I didn't like the BBI rockets, so I had been waiting for the Avenger. I just added them to my Bunker Hill Corsair the other day:

I'll leave the drawing that shows the proper placement in the Reference forum where it belongs :) . Use a 1/8" drill if you use the Avenger rockets. The BBI rockets have a different oblong shape hole for the mounting. The 21C rockets have better detail (IMHO). I checked the placement on the Avenger, thinking I could use it for a pattern, but it didn't match the placement in the reference drawing and other photos I've seen. On the actual Corsair, there is a slight offset of the inboard pair as opposed to the outboard pair...which I didn't worry about. I put the front holes right in the panel line that runs along the wing length. You can see that in one of my photos.

I now just need to paint the launcher stubs 'Sea Blue' or wait to scavenge the rockets from the Flight 19 TBM when it arrives (the rocket stubs should be blue already)
