Hey razor WOW mate that works a treat
I`d have never known that was Playmobile. They certainly do provide some excellent stuff to move into the 1/18th world

haha... that makes me look back on my time in vietnam as almost... fun.
I wonder what it would look like painted and weathered?

What would you suggest I do to make it look less plastic?
How would you paint and weather this item?
Step by step for us non-customizers...

Weathering? Can't help you there.
As for the hut itself, it looks like the only thing that might need some paint would be the railings(a nice matching flat acrylic). The thatch and vertical beams look pretty good as they are.

I would start with a dull coat spray first. See what that does for it. The shine is what really takes away form the “real” factor. Then, you could use some pastel chalks to add a weathered look. The dull coat will give it some tooth for the pastels to stick to. You can re-seal it when you have the look you want. I used this method on my German sub model.
