M48/M60 conversion question.

Post by flpickupman » Thu Jul 13, 2006 10:50 am

I was thinking of converting the 1/18 M48 into an M60. Does anyone know of any major visual differences between the two besides the main gun barrel and mantlet plate?

Thanks

There are many differences between the two. The M48 has a boat hull or round shape with a round front of the hull. The M60 has a flat front much like a Panther does. The M60 has a different wheels that are made of aluminum(sp) and look completely different then the M48's. There is also some differences on the turret where the commanders coupla sits. I believe the M60's bulges out from the turret more.

Think this would be a seriously tough conversion for all the reasons Grock mentioned, plus the M60 turret is pretty much a different shape altogether, at least from comparing my FOV M60 with the 21C Patton. Also, changing that "bath tub" hull to the sloped M60 type would be a major project all by itself. Cheers,
