I`m totally blown away with the work on the plane. I`ll let him tell you actually what he`s done completely though here`s the slight info he sent me in an email with the photos.

Here`s what he told me with the photos.

"i used 2 Spitfires, my vaccum form machine,& resin
i dropped the flaps and redid the cockpit.
made exaust from coffee stirrers.
cannons/ machine guns are brass tubing
spinner i made from aluminum on my lathe."

Awesome job! It looks great. Please post bigger pictures if you can at some point, I would love to see the extra detailing and mods up close.

as i learn more about resin casting i will try more stuff
i want to try 4 bladed Hamilton Standard props for Corsair & Mustangs
vaccum canopys and cowls to convert F4U-1 to F4U-4 is also on thing to do list
but cowl maybe will be resin
anyway on Spit lots of filler and rescribing went into it. also made balsa forms for cannon blisters then vaccumformed them
canopy is also vaccuformed to be thin and clear cut out landing lights and put them down. flaps lowered and ribbed inside. inst. panel removed
inst holes drilled out. new dials made on puter then put behind clear lens
thats all i can think of for now

i see you also added a bigger cooler under the left wing, which you got from the donar spitfire i presume. Very nice. Very, very nice..

Is this a Mk IX? Did you lengthen the nose?

yes i did
cut cowl at what i figured was firewall with razor saw
took a approximent 3/8 plug out of donor Spit cowl and puttied it all together. then rescribed it. was looking at exaust in 'spitfires in action' while drinking coffee at work when i got thin wall idea for pipes

Epiphanies seem to catch up to you when you least expect it eh? Thats an exemplary paint job and I like how you took your ideas out of the box! (well in this case, out of the box of coffee stirrers would be a double meaning too!) Take care,

One of my favourite subjects. I also hope ton see larger pictures. Cannot see all the great work thats gone into it.

I love airbrushing.
at last count i have 11 airbrushes, 3 never even opened
but i'm getting better with them, i have been using them since i was 16
now 55 years old so i guess practice makes better
