STAR WARS DIORAMAS

Post by mediump » Mon May 01, 2006 8:57 pm

I have some more pics courtesy of HIDEOUS ONE of some micro machines scale star wars set ups. these pics are not the best but in person the detail is amazing.
I do not know a lot about star wars or the scale, so HIDEOUS ONE may be able to answer more of your questions

If memory serves these figures are around the HO mark,20-25mm tall. Though they could be smaller it has been some time since I`ve seen them.

As for the dio pieces here, very nice :D Love the forest & HOTH scenes :D

Ahh... the old Micromachines Star Wars Actionfleet! Those were excellent pieces and very well detailed, especially for their small size and the time in which they were made. I collected a bunch of these back during their heyday in the 1990s and still have a couple on display (with the rest in storage) since they look pretty darn good! Some of the larger vehicles were severely underscaled (like the AT-AT walker) but most of the smaller ships (X-wing, Y-wing, A-wing Tie fighters, and speeders) were pretty much to scale with one another. They had alot of moving parts, opening engines, detailed cockpits and great little figures. Alot of the ships had decent weathering and some even came as "battle damaged" pieces. I have a couple of the playsets as well. The Hoth set had a cool little "battle field" section with trenches bunkers guns and a crashed AT-AT. The Yavin set had a great hanger bay. Reproductions have resurfaced within the past several years as Hasbro releases, but they lack the fun of the old Galoob stuff.

Back on topic... the Actionfleet pieces do look pretty good in a diorama. I'll have to give it a try sometime :)
