A Hachette F4F-3 Code 3

With Hachette announcing a 1:100th scale TBF and a 1:87th scale SBD as its upcoming releases--both in early 1942 USN red dot and tail stripe markings, I decided that they needed an escort I took an extra 1:87th scale Hachette F4F-3---also a 1:87th scale model---and converted it to a USN gray bird with the appropriate markings. Here's a picture of the model in its original form, with some staining added:
